it's all but over, think that second set took everything heather had and she couldn't keep it up into the third.

Having watched Kerber a few times, what struck me again was her intensity.

The ball striking at this level is very high but the margin for error is very small.

Heather was a bit up and down but to beat someone like Kerber, you have to keep up a similar intensity, ball after ball after ball.

And players right up there have the ability to almost forget what's gone before. They click back into their mode and this is what Kerber did after losing the 2nd set, where, as you say, Heather blinked, stalled, had a reaction, all of the above.

I thought there were a few points where H. had opened up K and had a ball on to hit with her b/h down the line and she often chose to go back cross court.

The problem is that the DTL shot is a more difficult one to hit at the clutch (higher part of the net, shorter court area to hit into) and this is the one you need to have the courage when it matters.

Also, H. may have been hesitant as K can hit the running b/h cross-court well, so what do you do?

But well played Heather. Keep doing the work and setting your bar higher and higher (and enjoy the £43k :D)

Murray's grass deficiencies are minor by comparison. And I'd heard of Rola...James Ward played him twice recently (FO qualies, Queens).

    Steady on :o

Judy might pick her if Laura's injured.

Probably depends on whether Nadal can get a tax exemption or not.

I answered this in my mammoth post. The 6 was there to signify that Rosol won 6 points in the TB. Basically, it shows how many points the loser of the TB won.

    Good assessment.

    Same...

    Hey Cherrycoc.

I was only asking to see a copy of the post where attackmusic said that you told her this:
Murray chokes so much against Nadal it is embarrassing. He seems to be a bit of a fanboy. I remember cherry chocs comments about Nadal befriending people to try and stop them being a threat and I think he is on to something, considering how differently Nadal treated Novak after 2011. I wish Andy would put that to one side and do some damage.

That's all. Did you state that

Now we have half an hour of roof watching!!

I wish that if there is a chance of rain at any point during the day, the roof would remain closed from the start. That would avoid the need to disrupt play for 30 minutes whilst the roof is closed.

I love the noise when the roof is closed, sounds much louder. Fed looked really good from what I have seen, I really think he has a chance this year.

He'll get to the semis and lose to Rafa in 4 as one would expect.

I really hate that Inverdale says game instead of match. Does he not realise that the word 'game' has a very specific meaning in tennis?

Here's an article about Jaimie Delgado who when younger was the next great British hope (around the same time as Henman).

Brilliant play by Federer, there seems to be something different about him this year....I feel he has a chance to get to the semis maybe. We'll see what happen.

I can't understand why no-one behind the scenes corrects him on this one.

I hate the phrase, 'he should know better' but actually, he should know better.

Not only hs he been the front man for tennis / Wimbledon for a very long time now but also, his 2 girls were in my junior tennis programme for a few years when I was a coach and when he could, he would drive them all over the place to tournaments as is the role of tennis parents of such kids.

The fact remains that John is one of a number of generalists not specialists who the BBC use.

He is much better at his own preferred sports, Rugby Union and Golf.

It's even more annoying when he is sat with players, he said 'game' with Tracey Austin and John McEnroe sat next to him, how can they just let is slide all the time, i'd have to correct him.

Maybe get Marion Bartoli to tell him (not because of their little spat) she told Sam Smith she was pronouncing Susan Lenglen wrong, i've been wanting someone to do that for ages.

Edit: He just said match twice!!

Caught the end of Fed's match, he is looking very good, I think he will definitely get to the semi's if he continues that form, maybe the final. Remind me who is to meet in the semi's is it Rafa?

Should we keep score on the game/ match pronouncements? :D

Thing is that I now listen out for it!!

Yep- Rafa and Roger on the same side of the draw. Long way to go before the semis though! :)

Fed looked back to his best today and served brilliantly. The way he floats around the court is majestic and he will certainly be a loss to the game when he does retire. He can be a bit inconsistent these day however so you don't know which Fed you're going to get.

It is indeed which isn't good news for Federer given their record if they both get there. Rafa hasnt been great on grass for the past year or so, so we'll see.

Just looking at Rafa's Wimbledon record and the last 5 times he has reached the last 32 he has gone on to make it to the final.

Now he's played his way into the tournament I think it'll be very hard to stop him.

I've got £200 on Nadal at 8/1 to win the tournament!

Easy money! Nadal will build up momentum as he progresses and Murray, Federer and Djokovic will be no match for him!

Can't wait to cash in my bet! :D:D:D

Roger hasn't played anyone yet that's why he looks good, same with Murray both haven't played anyone with any good form :)

He played a number of winners tonight that the other 3 would not have got near either.

He also played a few that the top players would have took far more advantage of though.

Roger can be sublime and poor in the same rally these days. :)

No way he doesn't make the semis at least with this draw!!!! If djok, Andy and Roger played well against him here they would win but sadly I think any of them would choke against him. When a match is on your racket, you must keep the UE down as well as being the one hitting the winners. Don't see that happening.

Ugh if him and Serena both win this year :o I at least think Serena is good to watch and no denying her grass court prowess.

Again I ask who has he played Muller :o If he couldn't get passed Muller I would be very worried, who and what has Muller done in the past?

Like I said he hasn't played anyone yet to test him, same with Murray (and I'm Murrays biggest fan) both haven't played anyone yet. Same with the World cup none of the top teams have played anyone yet. let's see next week how they get on :)

    He certainly should.

How often is it that the person who looks like they have the worst draw end up with the most straightforward passage to the semi's. It seems to happen regularly.

Apologies if this has been posted - so many pages to read through I may have missed it but I thought everyone would be discussing how Rosol refused to go forward and wait for Nadal at the net at the beginning of the match, as everyone else does. He hung back until Nadal went first. I've never seen anyone else do this and must admit it niggles me a bit. He followed it up by mirroring Nadal jumping up and down before the coin toss. I was amazed (and more than a little impressed)
I can remember Courier saying if his Davis Cup team played Spain he was going to tell them to refuse to walk to the net before Nadal but not sure if this materialised.
Maybe others have done this before but I've never seen it.
    Anyone?
