We've been teaching Holly to allow us to take whatever from her whenever we like, but it was advised form the vets, as she wolfs down her food, so we let her have half once she's sat calm, then say "leave", pick it up, get her to sit again, and then give it back, so she gets half at a time. It is good to make sure that you can take whatever whenever incase the dog has anything he/she isn't allowed.
