I've seen 1 or 2 in races. Beat gds1972 when it gives you a rival which was nice. He4rt's drivatar in 2 successive races swiped me off the road resulting in huge amount of dropped places while doing Catalunya.

At the moment have made drivatar difficulty 10% bonus and got 5% bonuses on line and steering. Makes it challenging enough for me just now.

Nice one cooltv, think my best is top 10% on Indianapolis. Generally I'm about 15k or so,kind of stuck at this.

I really wish I didn't buy the Corvette C6 ZR1, now I'm just obsessed with it, what a car! The details are just crazy, switching to bonnet cam gives you a close up of the supercharger rumbling in line with your throttle, the exhaust notes are just perfect, it's a dream to drive.

Ended up upgrading to VIP, LOVING the grind. The reward system is really well designed, it never gives you too much at once but always gives you the feeling of making progress, it's taken a leaf out of Gran Turismo's book and is all the better for it imo but a number of people seem to be unhappy with it. Can't please everyone.

How is it possible to complete a full lap of Bathurst without treating it like some sort of destruction derby? The narrow track with winding roads always ends with me getting bashed about like a pinball.

Theres one guy on my friends list who's drivatar seems to follow me all the time, he always starts at the back with me on the first lap and by the time we're on the second lap we're battling it out for first. He's an aggressive sod as well.

Apart from him, i always seem to see 2ds drivatar the most.

Yeah Bathurst is a bloodbath - the cynic in me thinks Turn 10 have done that and the setting sun in your eyes just to make things difficult.

I'm enjoying the drivatars but I think that overall 5 feels less of a game than 4 - I suppose it was "rushed out" to be a launch title for the One, even though it probably needed another 12 months to be as big a game as 4 was.

Same cooltv, might have hit a bump as I went to next series got an mr2 95 GT and I'm struggling with cornering now.

Edit: Also noticed that the Turn10 intro/logo only has 5 turns.

    You need to get boned!

Honestly whenever i have had chance i've played this game. Some people have pointed out how bad the crowds or a tree is. If you notice playing these while racing you are playing it wrong!

Set how difficult you want the game to be, but i'm loving the Drivatar.

How's the grind going to buy cars? I'm a little dismayed reading how much time is going to be taken up, and considering I don't have the endless hours like I used to, something like the E21 will be an impossibility, I don't see the point in buying a 'full game' and not ever being able to run all the cars even in free play. I mean could go out and spend over £60 to buy that car and save myself dozens of hours grinding, but I think that misses the point of buying a game (well unless that's to get me to buy tokens or double xp bonuses). Someone did a few stats on the premium racers:

    - Indy cars (4), 12,000,000 CR
    - F1 cars (3), 13,000,000 CR
    - LM P class (4), 10,000,000 CR
    - Others over 1 mil, approx. 46,000,000 CR

    TOTAL: 81,000,000

I suppose if you have a good driveatar you may earn a little more quicker, I can't get my head not being able to use any of them in freeplay mode, I can just about understand making them exclusive to own, but this is excessive. When I eventually get it (probably summer next year) it's going to take me months of grinding to get a car worthy of racing online, and then I won't win any credits racing online. No coincidence you can buy tokens to speed things up,

From what I've learned this weekend I really hope Project CARS smashes T10 into pulling their finger out for Fm6.

I love what I've seen with the graphics (ignoring the 2D cutouts which probably didn't need to go in the game). I'm really unhappy to learn the following:

    No clubs
    No storefront
No ability to drive cars in freeplay (single handedly decimates some of our online racing leagues, where we use stock cars picked at random)
    Microtransaction domination
    No multiplayer replays
    No gifting
    No multiplayer credits
Deliberate exclusion of existing racing wheels (the recently launched Forza Fanatec wheel not working is unforgivable)
No leaderboard hotlapping (hiding them in rivals isn't the same)
Poor selection of Lmp 1 cars
    Limited tracks
'Grind' to drive economy - Fm4 made it too easy, but this has gone too far the other way.

I can't believe how much of the community features seem to have been stripped away in lieu of a rushed launch.

I know you boys in here (and especially some) will not hear a bad word ever against the game, but once you get past the fancy graphics and we're a month in, I don't think it'll hold as much favour as what Fm4 did for you. I love the look of the game (and will inevitably get it in the future}) but I'm a little bemused by the fawning over what seems a prologue version of Forza and not the real deal. I've seen a lot of Fm5 players back on Fm4 this weekend continuing the racing leagues we have going, the general census seems to be 'amazing graphics, poor content'.

Think I have done 10 hours and I have £2m in the bank, only bought an escort and the ktm xbow. I am hoarding my credits until I get enough to buy the Indy or f1 car, its going to take while.

My drivatar did 60 races yesterday and earned me 13k, can't believe he is worse than me:D

With the VIP dlc I think I get double credits for each level my driver goes up, I get £31,500 for each level instead of £15,000.

Damn it, I thought they'd got the difficulty right this time... turns out, nope.

Had my rivals difficulty set at Above Average but was winning each race in first place 'with them a few seconds behind, I thought ok I'll up it to Highly Skilled (the next level) to make things closer'...

Now I'm finishing 9th, that strikes me as a bit of a difference.

The hardest part for me is avoiding a mass collision while I'm making my way to first place. Some people's drivatars are super aggressive and will often try to swipe me off the road and they always seem to brake too heavily and too early around corners which makes it hard not to collide when I'm behind them.

Driving a Trans AM in the American leagues atm. Love how it drifts round corners but, more importantly it sounds orgasmic when you rev that engine. The 'bandit' would be proud.

Have to say I agree with all of your post.

I very rarely actually play through the career mode to completion (Played until they got boring) but used to love the free play/arcade modes which allowed you to pick any car, Any track & go do some time trial laps.
It was especially cool when me & a friend used to take turns doing laps trying to beat one another's times.

Not been able to do that from the start would take a lot of fun out of the game for me & has actually put me off wanting the game at all (And therefore an XB1 since Forza was for now all i was interested in).

As you say having to unlock things in the career mode is perfectly OK, But in free play mode everything should be available so you can just go do some laps any car/any track & have some fun, Especially when my friend came over.

Does the R18 tempt you? I'm an LMP purist but I gotta say I'd be tempted to hold out for the Indycar after I bought that. Saying that though I've always wanted an F1 car in Forza so I'd be torn.

I suppose if you're a quick racer (ie top 100 etc) than your driveratar should in theory rack up the cash more in offline mode, but does the driveatar only race against people off your friends list or will it take on similar ranked players irrespective of being friends?

Any idea how long the VIP car pack is around for? I'm going to be on catchup when I eventually get it, not sure how I feel about paying to double my race winnings though, but I'll need every dollar. I'll earn enough to buy me a competitive lobby car then ditch the career.

I've got my fingers crossed they'll be an influx of updates with missing community features and a readjustment to the economy, I doubt we'll see any tracks soon.

Stef - I'm stuck the same as you with wanting to get an XB1 but not happy with what's gone on, I'm looking at it as an investment for the future (Project CARS, Fm6, etc) and Fm5 being a demo of what's to come.

I'm installing Forza from disc just now. It's about 20%. Do I need to wait for it to fully install before switching console off?

Time to up your game I guess. ;) I'll admit so far I haven't been too pushed in races either, I'm yet to find the sweet spot for Drivatar difficulty.

Yeah I hate the "Drivatards" that brake too hard on a corner leaning you crashing into the back of them, some of them are aggressive though, I quite enjoy that. I appreciate how they don't all race in a pack either.

With the car packs I notice there is one for £39.99 which includes 6 packs, so is there 1 pack already out and another 5 packs to come is this correct?

Also I hear there are going to be expansions but I assume you cannot buy these yet?

Drivatar payouts are pathetic, usually less than on manual race will earn. I suspect this because it never actually wins a race because people will only select the difficulty at which they are likely to beat the AI.

The entire economy of the game has been gutted and stripped down to entice you to buy tokens - they'll be charging you for fuel next.

Me and my mate did a custom online lobby, and there is the rent car option, basically it lets you take out cars you don't own, but you don't earn any credits, cant do any upgrades. The indy cars were there so we gave they a whirl, wow what a sense of speed, far quicker than what I am used to. Problem with the f1 car is that it costs too much, £6m is too much under the economy of earnings in my opinion. There is people on the leaderboards that actually own them though. It makes me smile thinking that they have bought tokens to acquire one, only £55 in dlc tokens. Indy cars are probably a better compromise.

Don't think there is a time limit on the vip pass. If you are going to plough the time into the game for its time span then yes, basically if you ge to level 100, then it is £1.5m extra in reward credits. Think I am earning 8-9k per race, so the extra cash comes in handy. You also get 1250 tokens and 5 cars, including a Veyron sper sport, 2.4m creds (haven't received either yet though), pretty sure the cars are suppose to be gifts

    thanks smc

I think the tokens thing has been an accidental mistake and hopefully a patch will rectify that, I feel a bit sorry for those people buying the launch packs expect the gifted tokens to be worth anything, the simple solution would be for MS to give every 10,000 credits, what's the odds on them doing that though? I'd hazard a guess they'll sweat it out and do nothing but readjust the pack value for future purchases.

When I get it, I'll be certainly putting the hours in, I've got over 1500 hours combined from Fm2 - Fm4, the quicker earning rate would be attractive but I'm really not jazzed about giving MS extra money for that. I wonder how the devs at T10 feel, they must be seeing the growing backlash and to see some of the hardcore Forza devotes (ie VVV and the TORA racers) giving them a hard time must be uncomfortable to say the least.

Main game reviewers didn't mention the microtransactions at all and I assume they either got fully unlocked copies or they were signed to an NDA, only Eurogamer give a slight mention to the extent of DLC and how little value the paid for tokens equate to. I can't believe someone has already paid out for the E21, I keep my fingers crossed the economy of the game is adjusted.

For all you racing league fans there's coverage tonight on Motors Tv @ 18:55. coverage of the TORA touring car championship from Sunset (Reverse Full Circuit) and then iRacing is afterwards.

Got my 3 free cars for being tier 4 on Forza.net yesterday afternoon.

Free stuff in Forza? Thank God they are putting a stop to this sort of blatant cheating ;)
