A peugeot 106 diesel. Being a diesel it had a lot of torque and was very hard to stall which made hill starts easy as you could just lift your foot off the clutch without touching the accelerator and it would pull away.
I passed my first test in 1969. I had lessons in an Austin but a driver crashed it the day before my test.
I took my test in a Mini I only drove for an hour before my test.
A Mini (a proper one) in 1971. I was so nervous I could hardly remember any of it afterwards, but I still passed first time! Thirteen lessons through the Summer of 1971 and then the dreaded test in September.
