Can't say i'm surprised to hear this just announced on the News.

Rebekah Brooks has been cleared of all charges and her husband cleared of perverting the course of justice.

Coulson found Guilty.

it is handy being a pal of Cameron when it comes to stuff like this , it happened on her watch so the fact she was found innocent is astounding

It does look like AC is being made the fall-guy although I'm sure he was guilty as charged. The bigger story for me is how Rebekkah Brooks was acquitted. It is beyond belief. Like the jury believed she knew nothing about the phone hacking. Really?? I wonder if the jury were nobbled.

I thought the key point was that when he item he removed were examined it wasn't evidence but porn.

Beat me to it! Exactly that!!

Brooks and her husband are not only 'pal's' of Camerons, but neighbours too.

    Coulson is neither.

Coulson and her were once intimately involved. I imagine he won't stay silent for long now as he has nothing to lose. The downside to that of course is some will see it as Coulson getting his own back and probably won't believe anything.

If she'd just been one of the hacks (no pun intended!) at NOTW, she'd have been behind bars long ago.

But he is Cameron's ex DoC, and Coulson being found guilty reflects badly on his judgement, to the extent that he had to made an apology for employing him as damage control, something he wouldn't have had to do had the verdicts been the other way round. If we're saying there's some sort of conspiracy here, how much of a 'pal' must she be that he'd rather prostrate himself than see her get sent down? She obviously knows where the bodies are buried. Or, you know, everything might just be as it's turned out.

Why 11 jurors instead of 12. What happened to him/her?

Well done to those who predicted this from the very start.

So Cameron has set it up so the bloke he actually hired to work for him has been convicted causing him massive embarrassment and forcing an apology but nobbled it not so his friend is not arrested or charged but put on trial at the old Bailey in hugely expensive high profile trial , is that right ?

Alternatively perhaps the jurors heard the evidence and decided that much of it didn't add up or certainly didn't add up to enough for a conviction .

Charged doesn't equal guilty that's why we have trials & juries , who actually listen to the evidence to make the decision .

It was just soooo predictable, wasn't it?

Completely unsurprised by this verdict. Still, a jury's a jury and they had more insight than I do. Still cannot stand that smirking Brooks woman and never will.

To stay out of the realms of libel, I will only say my own personal opinion is that I find it quite astonishing she has been cleared.

But then again, I only have what was reported in the media to go on as I wasn't part of the jury or in court.

I'm surprised by the verdict I would have thought they would all be given the same.

Coulson was never part of the Chippy Set though, he was simply 'an employee' of the Tory Party. They are easily dispensed with on a regular basis as we often see.

Friends and neighbours are quite a different thing. Coulson didn't get any sloppy LOL texts from Dave during the trial. Brooks did.

Yes had the verdict 'been the other way round', Dave wouldn't have had to offer up damage limitation in quite the same way, but it would have proved way more awkward than seeing off an employee.

I expect the Cameroon Kid will be breaking out the Bar B this evening and the crates of Krug will already be on ice ready for Charlie and Becky's welcome home do.

The Sun and NoW are/were great at pillorying people in the court of public opinion. I imagine the same thing will happen to Brooks regardless of this verdict.
