Interesting part about this US deal is the PL stipulated that a certain number of matches had to be shown 'over the air' i.e on a terrestrial equivalent US network (either NBC, FOX, ABC or CBS).
Suspect this was primarily for exposure purposes - no other football league (not even MLS) gets any OTA exposure on a regular slot as the PL does on NBC for certain games (usually the Sat 5.30pm game) - but meant if the likes of BeIN or ESPN had won, they would have to sub licence certain games to one of the big networks.
Anyone know who has been awarded the delayed rights i.e. Football First .I don't mean clips but the rights to delayed full match coverage of the 3pm kick offs
Has this actually been awarded yet?
Apologies if posted elsewhere; sale of domestic rights were completed earlier today. Should answer your query.
Unless i've read it wrong from next year Soccer Saturday will also show goals?
Hm are they allowed to do that? I know sky have the rights to show on demand highlights online a bit later on. I thought 3PM footie was blacked out completely?
"The agreement also enables extended highlights to be shown within long-running highlights programme Goals on Sunday, as well as use of goals and key moments within Gillette Soccer Saturday and Sky Sports News HQ over the three seasons"

I can't see Sky being allowed to do that with the 3PM blackout imposed. Doesn't seem right. Guess we will see what happens come the start of the 2016 season?
I very much doubt they could show highlights in the black-out window because this is controlled by the FA not the premier league.
Reading it - r/e "Goals On Sunday" it specifically states that *highlights* could be added to the goals so in effect they separate the two.
To me that means on Soccer Special they can add the goals and major incidents as they happen. They do that to a degree on midweek specials. What they can't do is zoom round the grounds and show any live action, however short.
The black-out is supposed to be any football, not just live football but I hope it's right that they will be showing it, I personally think the black-out of all football is excessive and should only apply to live British football.

How willing would people who've already seen the PL goals on Soccer Saturday be to watch that night's MOTD?
Starting next season, Sky Sports will show 3pm kickoffs in the Republic of Ireland, taking rights currently held by Setanta here. It represents a departure (I believe) for SKY to show sports content in Ireland that's not also available in UK, and means they'll be showing 159 games in ROI next season.
Sky don't have an Ireland-only sports channel, do they? Will be interesting to see how they manage this.
Presumably they'll also send their own commentators to whichever 3pm game is shown in ROI. Using the world feed for "as-live" is fine, but I'd imagine they'll want to be able to promote upcoming sport etc. in a live commentary, like they currently do.
Sky Sports to broadcast live 3pm Premier League games in Ireland
For the first time ever Sky Sports will broadcast live coverage of 3pm Premier League kick-offs on Saturdays, beginning next season and available exclusively to Irish customers.
The deal comes at the same time as BT Sport has announced that, from next season, they will show live coverage of 5.30pm Saturday evening kick-offs. These games will be available to Irish viewers through the Setanta Sports pack.
The move is a significant one for Sky as blackout laws in the UK mean that no live football can be shown between 2.45 and 5.15 on Saturday afternoons. However, those laws do not apply to Ireland.
As yet it is unknown how games will be broadcast in Ireland and not in the UK. A possibility is that a specific Sky Sports Ireland channel will be set up.
From next season up to 159 live Premier League matches will be broadcast in Ireland. Also a first – Sky will now also broadcast matches live on Friday nights.
Setanta currently show a number of live 3pm kick-offs during the season but will cease to do so at the end of this season as Sky take over. RTÉ have also shown 3pm games live in the past.
Essentially, Sky and BT have swapped the 3pm and 5.30pm broadcast deals.
The move comes as a boost for Sky Sports however, after losing a number of rights packages to BT over the last year or so.
Last year BT shelled out to take the rights to the Champions League from Sky and now show every game live. They also own the rights to the Saturday lunchtime kick-offs in the Premier League.
But from the beginning of next season Sky will now show live games on Friday nights, Saturday afternoons, Sunday afternoons and Monday nights.
Commenting on the deal, Barney Francis – managing director of Sky Sports – said: “These rights mean that Sky Sports remains the home of sport in Ireland. From the 2016-17 season, our viewers in Ireland will be able to enjoy even more of the best Premier League matches across more days of the week than ever before. By securing rights to live matches on Friday evenings for the first time, Sky Sports will bring Premier League fans an entirely new way to start the weekend.”

Anyway, if anyone wants a lesson in poor "journalism", just read the Digital Spy article on this.

Yes, but I don't think it will be that day's goals during GSS.
Where did you read that?
If that is correct that will no way apply to the games BT will be showing.

Surely it would seriously undermine Goals on Sunday as well?
(Confirmation on the @skyireland twitter account)

I assume we will see Sky Sports 1 Ireland launch officially.
