I watched a documentary about the police last night. The hours spent dealing with hysterical women with Facebook arguments was shocking. So forum trolling is next?

Have anyone mentioned that there's an 'off' button on PCs, yet?

I totally agree that trolling's unacceptable. Police investigation could raise serious questions in terms of resources though.

Policeman: I am arresting you on charges of intentionally causing distress to people online. Simon Cowell does not have a nob like a potato and has never knowingly been a heterosexual. I mean, homosexual. You do not have to say anything-
    Tr0ll: LuLZ!
Policeman: -but anything you do say may be taken down-
    Tr0ll: th0ngz!
Policeman: and used against you in a court of law.
    Tr0ll: Ha! pwnz!

There are way too many new members recently which join and straight away start baiting people.

Something definitely needs to be done before the place becomes overrun with them, and eventually declines until its no longer popular enough to stay open.

Maybe its because they removed the 5 pound fee.

I think they'd have to set up a specialist cop shop dedicated to DS alone... Remembering the headtheball with a post count of 10 who wanted venerable members arrested for disagreeing with her. This would attract more loonies than it would find. Really wish the police would start doing proper things with their time.

I don't understand the amount of patience and love for trolls.
I find them tedious and wonder why more aren't banned from sites instead of regular posters lining up to feed them.

There's one on another site I use and each time I log in she has at least two 20 page + threads running.

I think this is only if someone is causing significant distress to another, on purpose.

Unless they go too far (which is a long way) commercial websites and forums love 'em as they create more traffic = more money!.

Wouldn't surprise me if some of the more moderate trolls are encouraged by or even affiliated to some sites.

Some of them are funny. But you're right, most of them are boring. The troll quality on DS has seriously taken a nosedive over the last couple of years.

Anyone remember Housewife? She was brilliant. Absolutely hilarious.

Are they talking about trolling or harrassment? Online harrassment that intrudes into real life is different to trolling.

Of course they have, but this probably relates to this story.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-14239702

Many cowardly individuals think it is okay to do what they like online, thinking they cant be traced. Some of the comments reported about this story are disgusting, and if a person were to make such comments in any other way, they'd be in trouble, so why not online?
