I didn't see a thread about this, so sorry if there has already been one. I know people can get very tetchy about that...
But yeah. Looks like we're getting 8 episodes in April, plus an anniversary special in November.
Anyone else feeling... a little disappointed? As I've said in the comments:
Moffat has gone on record as saying, "2013 will be the best year to be a DW fan." Really???? With 9, possibly 10 episodes... and THAT'S IT??? Look, I let this very disappointing year go (it wasn't just the lack of episodes that disappointed me but episode quality) but they're doing it AGAIN next year?? Look, maybe they have yet to announce something. Maybe we're getting more Torchwood, or something else to fill the gaps. I know we can't expect it to be on every week, but when Moff has pretty much stated it's going to be something that lasts the entire year and then its announced it's coming back for 9 episodes only, that's really a poor show. I bloody hope there's more to be announced here.
Plus... why the long wait until April?
Why the hell are they screwing around with it so much? Especially on it's 50th year.

It's a bit of a split between the realists like you and I and the dreamers like Davrosdodebird.
The dreamers still believe that even though there is no budget allocated and nothing has been commissioned a whole raft of extra DW episodes will magically appear during 2013.
Wat R U Doin?
Fans.
STHAP.
You know full well what I think on this subject so stop twisting my words you twisty person you
I quoted Spilsbury. That is all.
I've never been called a twisty person before. Twisted, yes, but never twisty.
Seriously, I think I'm gonna take a break from the subject for a bit, it's all getting a bit too hot. I think some on both sides of the discussion are getting a bit too personal and it's easy to fall into that.
I mean, c'mon, we're all fans and we all actually want there to be lots of episodes next year, it's just our opinions on what we will get that differs.
Anything less and I will feel like the show is slowly being axed right before our very eyes.
I don't expect anything more than 8 eps, Anniversary special and the Christmas special next year.
I don't think that means it is being axed though. I think it just allowed the BBC to make a whole series worth of savings. I'd expect a full 13 week series 8 in 2014.
My only crib is that the BBC have consistently lied to us and tried to convince us that less is more. They should have just been honest with us from the start.
Anyway, I said I was having a break from this particular discussion. (slaps wrist)
Yes, agree 100% and sorry to drag you back into the fray!
It genuinely angers me off that the BBC directors never think about saving money but cutting back on the amount of Eastenders episodes they churn out each year, but shows like Who seem fair game.
Including Christmas specials, Matt had 14 episodes in 2010, 14 episodes in 2011 but only 6 in 2012.
We know we've got another 8 to come in 2013 - plus an anniversary special and Christmas special.
But at what point do we actually get season 8? The move to split season 7 was supposed to be an attempt to put the show back in its traditional autumn/winter slot. Now it's looking (as you have said) as little more than an attempt to con viewers out of an entire season.
And I'm not going to feel grateful that the BBC keeps chucking one-off episodes at us to fill the ever increasing gaps between the actual seasons.
