I did think this was only a matter of time. The Wanted and to a much bigger extent One Direction stole their limelight, there's no place for them anymore. They had a decent run though, boybands never last that long usually because they either die out or develop huge ego's and try going solo.
That said, I do think in about 5 years they'll make a comeback and do a reunion tour, even if it's just for one album.
Look on the bright side, fans: this paves the way for the inevitable ITV2 reality show in a couple of years, 'JLS: The Reunion', with Peter Andre doing the voiceover.
Yeah, we all expected it this year, some people predicted it in the 'Predictions for music in 2013' thread. People on twitter/facebook are asking for a greatest hits, I don't think there's any point; they never brought anything 'great' to the table.
The Club Is Alive was one of the great modern pieces of music of our time, thank you!
Good luck to them, they were alright. Not ground-breaking but alright... no doubt they'll be on The Big Reunion in 2015 (if the show lasts that long, lol).
I know their popularity has waned recently but their split seems incredibly premature. Most artists/band have a "flop" era in their career and continue on to bigger and better things. Just look at the Saturdays!
It must be a great feeling to work for just 5 years and then be pretty much financially set for the rest of your life. I found quite a lot of their music cheesy but it's understandable considering their target audience, they definitely had a good run.

Exactly. The Saturdays had been written off as flops ever since Wordshaker (second album) flopped. Even I wrote them off as flops back then and I'm a fan! Then the third single from On Your Radar flopped and they were written off then as well. Now they're successful again and managed to get their first No 1  I really hope the new album does well if it ever comes out.

their singles were:
Beat Again
Everybody In Love
One Shot
The Club Is Alive
Eyes Wide Shut
She Makes Me Wanna
Take A Chance On Me
Do You Feel What I Feel
Proud
Hottest Girl In The World
Hold Me Down
5 no1's, 10 top 10's...not bad going chart wise.
while the above list is by no means classic pop, and most will be forgotten...that list is as credible (in terms of chart positions at least) as other bands Greatest Hits such as 5ive, Atomic Kitten, SClub7 etc

Plus there's family ties with kiddies etc.

Philip Schofeild said the exact same thing on This Morning earlier!
Nah, hopefully they'll split in the next few days or weeks I'm sick of seeing them everywhere!
