In retrospect, one minute Cilla was never off our tv screens then, all of a sudden, she was no more. Were we ever given an official explanation for this? With regard to Ms Black and the 'cockney sparrow', I never got the impression they were that keen on each other.

Such as a statement pinned on the gates at Buck House?

Showbiz is like that...one minute Carol Vordeman was everywhere next she wasn't.

Isn't she to star with O'Grady in a TV comedy 'Led Astray' ?

I could not stomach watching the Programme presented by Paul. So many celebs seem to like her which is amazing as she is reportedly quite awful and hard!!

Having read all the comments about Cilla on here and elsewhere, it used to almost make me cringe when Paul O'Grady interviewed any of Cilla's other pals on his show and they'd gush about her like she was an icon.

I didn't watch it O'Grady pretends to like everybody & IMHO is false so the Cilla programme was a def no no.

I would be more critical of Paul O'Grady for presenting that programme but having thought on it, he's always has had a soft spot for dogs so will cut him some slack.

All this about celebrities and obviously Ms Black. I have never met her and I don't really want to but in my line of work I see quite a few celebs over the years (I am a train conductor, nothing special just local stoppers) I have had numerous North West celebs, footballers, actors etc. etc. there are plenty of relatively minor celebs who look down on people but one of the nicest and most genuine people I have met (and spoken to her a few times) is Julie Hesmondhalgh. Polite down to earth and just plain nice! why can't all celebs be like that!

But not our Cilla :) my joke:rolleyes:

I know what you mean by that. It's the way Ms Black keeps banging on about the Beatles and how she's so chummy with them.

I find this hard to believe as I remember Paul McCartney being introduced to Ms Black on some live television show years ago and I was under the impression that Paul looked rather cringy & awkward with her and his expression showed that he'd wished he was anywhere but there with Ms Black in person.

Paul and Cilla would have made a hot couple, Cilla was far foxier than Jane

Never met the woman, but have heard from someone who had the misfortune to encounter her in the course of their work as Cabin Crew that she was very rude and not a nice person at all.

I remember being shocked to hear it, as I'd always got the impression from her TV shows that she was down-to-earth. The truth seems to be quite the opposite!

You must be kidding. I have men Jane and she is beautiful, and a lady, neither attributes that could describe that hideous old bat. :o

I googled "Cilla Black vile" and found this comment on another forum. The poster is explaining to someone who Cilla Black is.
Ah Cilla. DARLING Cilla. Cruella De Vil before the visit to the dentist and the loss of a Liverpool accent.....

Horrendous woman: she started out as a singer in the 1960's. Brian Epstein, the man who managed the Beatles, clearly had a cosh to the head the night before or he lost the bet of 'Who Can Manage The Most Tuneless Singer' competition because he honestly thought she would make it long time. Nails on a blackboard would sue at the comparison if they could. Anyway he did the only thing he could do in the circumstances and died. Then she rode on the coattails of the Beatles for a bit- I'm pretty sure Lennon had a restraining order on her or he should've done- and then found herself on prime time telly. She married a chap who was a genuinely lovely bloke and managed to persuade TV execs that Cruella would make an excellent prime time host. So she hosted Surprise Surprise (big surprises for unsuspecting middle aged Midlands housewives), Blind Date (fairly explanatory- the contestants were not allowed to even look at her in the eye, the stories of her bitchiness were legendary but largely supressed at the time). She resigned on air- I forget why- without having the decency to warn her bosses who'd indulged and protected her for all these years. Then disaster- hubby died. So sad. No one to protect her. No one to smooth over the cracks. All the people she'd been spectacularly vile to when they worked on her shows now commission those shows, so no more work for her. She decided to 'retire' with her Gay Mafia of friends- who only hang out with her cos they love a good bitch (not a sterotype oh no!) and they love the free hols in her Barbados villa. Oh yes this proud Scouser hasn't set foot in Liverpool for 50 years and lives in Buckinghamshire, and this champagne Socialist has a million pound villa in Barbados.

I'd attach a pic but I don't want to put anyone off their Xmas chocolate. Suffice to say she could chew an orange through a tennis racket with those teeth.

in all fairness, that post is just a bit bitter. I have no problem with cilla, I like her music and as she has never done anything wrong to me, all stories appear to be second hand, I have no problem with her.

It's just a nasty rant about someone who will never hear of it and probably couldn't care less. Just a total waste of time, a simple link to Wikipedia and 'she is supposed to be vile' would have sufficed. All these stories and there's never been one where someone tells her to merrily **** off and slap her round the chops. She certainly seems to deserve it, if these people are so bothered why don't they say something rather than post on forums! If I encountered her, I wouldn't cater to her every whim and speak through her PA, I wouldn't really care, I lack respect for those that treat me with little tbh.
