However a ship is a lot larger than a plane, is a lot slower and less manoeuvrable. In any case it would have been highly visible to spy satellites so there's no excuse for losing it - unless of course the defence cuts meant that there's no active surveillance these days and we have to rely on GPS on ship
Or the whims of the screenwriter in relation to the plot.
I don't know what it is about Spooks but I have trouble suspending belief when watching it. I watch all sorts of programmes that have ridiculous plots but will Spooks it grates a little.
Like programmes always have BS computer stuff in them and as someone who knows quite a bit about computers, it's frustrating seeing plot threads resolve with complete nonsense. They could replace the computer bits with a wizard who just tells them everything they need to know.
"Okay Dumbledore's tracked down the suspect"
I guess not many people are watching spooks any more, but the above quote summed up tonight's episode.
Seems like they have run out of plot lines.
In addition to my post just a moment ago number 107, what storylines would posters like to see?
I think I'd like one on defence companies, how they milk so much money during wars and maybe wars are done for them and how much they make generally and hold governments over barrels/run rings round them for a start.
Maybe one on where the likes of India and Sudan's ambitions take them militarily as well? They want military equipment, Spooks get involved to an extent or something?
Haven't read the rest of the thread, but what on earth is going on with Lucas? Was he going to Kill Malcolm?
Didn't really make any sense. Malcolm knew that Lucas had either gone over or was compromised. Lucas knew that Malcolm knew that, so why go back to the house? Surely there is a team looking to take Lucas in?
Whats with the guy bribing him? Still an active agent for someone? It isn't worth giving into the bribe is it?
All we seem to know is that he is heavily linked to whatever happened in Africa 15 years ago when 'John' became 'Lucas'. Quite what hold or how has not been revealed.
A bit academic now as Lucas has blown his cover.
btw, the episode about the chineese, is that worth watching? I only saw the first 20 mins or so.
It was one of the better ones of the series (no saying much) and left some openings for future events.
I liked the fact that we finally had an episode of Spooks where we actually 'win! That's is something that is missing. And I don't just mean they stop an attack, I'm talking about getting one over on another country sort of thing.
And it was nice that even if Lucas collapses next week so far he's not actually given away anything too important.

Thanks, glad I'm not the only one having trouble sussing whats what with Lucas.
From earlier series, wasn't Lucas's memory wiped in Russia when they detained him for years on end and thats when he became Lucas?
Harry should know a lot more on Lucas really shoudn't he? Its always been very vague what Harry knows and what Harry takes on face value.
I think Harry acted that he/the country "owed" Lucas for what he's been through.
Bottom line, Lucas has got to be a good guy. He's been through too much to turn bad now.
On another note, was the CIA guy demanding Tariq get sacked?
I'm getting a bit fed up with how the muslim characters always seem to have to go in the end. Zaf was undermined and mocked a bit before he was killed off and now it looks like they are doing the same to Tariq even though he lasted this one and proved the paranoid ones wrong.
Lucas has been speaking to him way out of turn too, sign that he may end up like Zaf I'm thinking.

Was that to do with them saying at the end it is him we have come for and it is a photograph of Lucas?
They have shot themselves in the foot, they have told us ruth has been keeping extremely close watch on Lucas, calls, locations ect, so she will know he didn't actually actually call for medical help when the woman was dying, no van following them. She would clearly see all the calls and locations he visited whilst he was supposed to escort this woman.

He took the phone that he used to 'call the ambulance' out of the dead guy's jacket didn't he? How would Ruth be tracing that?
Is Lucas compromised or is he bait being used by Harry to lure those who are after the Albany file? My first thoughts when Ruth revealed she had been tracking Lucas was that Harry already knew about Lucas and was annoyed with Ruth.
I'm a bit of a new recruit to Spooks so am not familiar with the history and the Malcolm guy and apologies if I am totally wrong.
I doubt that Lucas has really gone bad as if he had they would have to write him out.
Theres always a little bit of an overlap when Spooks replaces their lead spy Tom/Adam then Adam/Ros/Lucas. If Lucas is being written out then they would have bought the replacement in by now and it cant be Beth or Demitri as neither characters have been fleshed out enough yet to take over as lead. They could throw a swerve ball and reveal that Ros isnt actually dead I suppose.
I know Spooks has a reputation of killing of it's main characters, but this new team has only began to be established really, I dont think they'll get rid of Lucas at this point. I might get proved wrong though.
I liked tonight episode one of the best in a long while, next weeks looks good too from the previews.
oh i agree, one of my favourite spooks episodes ever!! the first few of this series really dragged but the last couple it's really started to pep it up and last night's just had me on the edge of my seat!!

It wouldn't have mattered whether Lucas called for medical help or not. The girl was shot in the neck and bled to death, which would be proven by autopsy. There's nothing Lucas could have done for her.
This is by far the best series of Spooks I've watched. They have built a great team of characters after the losses in the earlier series. Enjoying the sub plot going on with Lucas. It will be a pity this turns out be the final series.

He did call for help, but he then relaxed the pressure hold on the woman's wound, letting her bleed to death.
So far, Lucas has framed and sent an innocent man to jail and killed an innocent woman. By the end of this series he'll probably be punching kittens in the face.

Yeah ok good point well made, USS VIncennes springs to mind, but the Airbus was indistinguishable from an F-14, so says the official line.
What it boils down to I guess is artistic licence.

Next week looks quite nerve racking !
