Yes, you've got a point with that. Priya was much nicer in her original incarnation - bubbly, mischievious and youthful. She didn't have any big stories, but could have quite easily had, and would have been enjoyable to watch. Hazel could have been developed as a friendly, well-travelled, open-minded artistic individual who would befriend and/or have relationships with different villagers. I could see her as the type who would be involved in lots of community activities, perhaps running an art group.
Hazel did run an art class before Jackson's accident and I agree with what you say. I think though she didn't want to stay, she wanted a fresh start.

Ah, I think you might be right re Pauline Quirke. Now that I think about it she left about the time that the 'Birds of a Feather' stage tour started. The sheer cheek of the woman, not so stay just because I liked her character!
Which are the 3 characters in Emmerdale that you think need to be axed? And why?
For me it would have to be -
1. Cameron - he can't act at all, hard to understand and always mumbles. It's getting abit annoying now....
2. Robbie - don't think I really need to explain on this one ha.
3. Bernices new fella (forget his name) - he's only just arrived but already he's coming across as a poor mans Grayson Sinclair. Got a feeling he's going to be a dull character, who goes nowhere. Be suprised if he's kept on after his initial 6 month contract. Why wait, get rid now!
I think the problem with Megan, is that one minute she's an ambitious business woman with a strong sense of family loyalty and a very caring side (e.g her friendship with Zak). The next minute she's scheming and conniving. I never feel that I know which one is the 'real' Megan.
I don't think the producer knows either...solution: get rid of the two characters and they can take Declan with them and Katie.

axe the scriptwriters, they are the ones responsible for pisspoor dialogue. the actors can only be as good, or interesting, as the material they are given. ok great actors can improve it, but this aint the rsc, its soapland.
Debbie: sick of seeing her miserable face on my screen. Emmerdale has become "The Debbie Dingle Show" in the last year but she's just not a likeable enough character or a good enough actress to warrant all the screen time she gets.
Katie: I don't see where else her character can go, she has been through just about everything now and frankly I'm bored of her. The infertility storyline I know is going to drag on and make her character even more dreary.
Ruby: what is the point of her? We only ever see her in the background at the cafe. The only thing that made her interesting initially was the conflict over her relationship with Ali and Ali's family's objections to their relationship but now that's not being explored anymore the writers don't seem to know what to do with her. Although to be fair this is the fault of the writers not the actress, I don't know if she's a competent actress or not as she hasn't been given enough material for me to decide.
This is tough, limiting it to 3.... here goes
The dingle clan (I've cheated)
The chav family (the one supposedly representing broken britain ie rachel the cleaner and her fam)
Laurel

I agree, Ruby hasn't been given any decent storylines. It's a shame as I really like her.

Robbie - he does nothing for ED, no redeeming qualities as an actor or character.
Ali - she is the original "nails on blackboard" character - her voice should come with a health warning.
Was going to include Debbie, but I live in hope that the new producer may do her justice and give her some better SL in the future.
Robbit - No redeeming qualities. Played by a wooded actor.
Marlon Dingle - I don't like him. He is not needed. He's a spare part Dingle.

Totally agree
plus: Bernice as well.

Please let him take Bernice with him.
It was what Jackson would have wanted.
Had to laugh at that one. Hazel will have these words inscribed on her gravestone.
