I don't know. I normally don't vote for a prime minister, but even if I did I would want to know her policies. Which party does she represent?

Listening to her, I don't think her policies would be much of a laugh...

Why? Because she thinks a mansion tax is a stupid idea? It is a stupid idea.

A far better idea would be to fix council tax and perhaps add some extra bands. Too bad Labour hate that idea because money would go to councils instead of central government.

But the idea is so extra money can go into things like the NHS. This can't be done if the extra money is going directly to councils.

Can't stand Myleen Klass but I would vote in a potato before I'd vote for Ed Miliband or any of the others in the running.

Voting for a potato, especially a baked one, would be an excellent choice.

The extra money is going to raise a few hundred million. That's going to be a drop in the ocean of the NHS budget. The way supporters of the "mansion tax" talk it is going to transform healthcare in this country all paid for by a few people in expensive houses who mostly live in London.

If you are going to tax expensive things then why not art, jewellery and other assets. You could have a £1.5m house with a Van Gough in each room, several race horses and a massive collection of diamonds and you wouldn't pay a penny extra in tax.

If you really want to change the NHS it is gong to need tens of billions in extra tax and the only way you can raise that kind of money is by taxing everyone a lot more. Of course that won't happen as it is political suicide. No part would ever win an election if they said everyone would have to pay £1000 more in tax each year.

You are aware that it's parliament that votes? The PM doesn't just order.

Wish there was a poll for this thread.

Ms Klass seems to have quite a bit on this thread for people who believe in standing up for millionaires' rights. Fortunately there's a charity page on Just Giving where they can show their support for the beleaguered reality star.

You miss point - many living in those houses in London are millionaires by default of the market value now .Just ordinary people who happen to be living in a vastly appreciating asset .Thankfully Ms Klass had the ability to work that out .:)

I wonder if fellow millionaire Conservatives Jim Davidson, Paul Daniels or Cilla Black had made the same comments Klass did the same posters would be defending them as well?

Myleene Klass is no different really than the odious Davidson, Daniels and Black.

if she's that a good a pianist why is she best known for being in a crap pop group andshowering in a bikini on I'm a celebrity?

it seems she needs to get her priorities in order, or perhaps piano playing doesn't pay the greedy cow enough? :D

How many "ordinary people" have a property worth at least £2,000,000? Do you think they should pay the same council tax as someone in a small flat?

Some of these £2m properties are small flats. Yet you could have a real mansion in rural Scotland, Wales or the north of England and not be affected by this.

Besides, since when did the tax you pay depend on whether you are "ordinary" or not?

Even in the better areas in Greater London most normal people would not be affected by this.

This is a true Conservative scheme to protect, once again, the rich, the wealthy and the privileged. The very people who are the true Tories like their donors, their celebrity supporters and of course the MPs like Osbourne and Cameron themselves.

    How sad!

Do you get a kick about of being nasty about someone you don't know? What is your evidence for calling her greedy, or is it just prejudice against someone who is successful?

Perhaps the job they have that enables them to afford a £2m home in the first place requires them to live in London, for example, rather than in rural Scotland or Wales. Had you thought of that?

That's kind of the crux of the matter.

In London now / in the future probably more than you/and Ed think ......Many many ordinary people purchased their house to live in at a time when property was affordable- . thats all the way up until the late 90s .

Council tax is already banded .

For me it's her sudden 'concern' for these old people who will be supposedly affected by this tax, which in my opinion, is nothing more than a weak attempt at covering up her concern SHE will have to pay more.

As for 'success', that's questionable, considering she is really just a jack of all trades, a master of none. It's money that seems to drive her more than credibity.

It's not the "crux of the matter" at all. In fact it has got nothing to do with anything.

If this is going to be a "mansion" tax then you have to define what a mansion is better than being any property costing over £2m. I would have thought that most people would call it a large detached house, not an apartment in a block.

Of course you could call it a "high value property valuation tax" but that doesn't sound as sexy as "mansion tax" even though it would be more accurate. Not everyone who owns a mansion would pay this tax and not everyone who paid this tax would own a mansion. The name is meaningless and just designed to attract votes.

Why not just have an extra tax on any property with more than 4 bedrooms? Labour's own "bedroom tax".
