Fancy dress ideas

My partner and I have been invited to a 'luggage' party in a couple of weeks. Basically we've been given a country and we have to take food/drink and dress appropriate to that country

We've been given the Vatican City as our country. So the obvious thing to do is to dress up as a cardinal or the pope but I'd love to do something a bit different but am struggling for ideas at the moment

Any ideas and tips would be most welcome

Ancient Roman centurion and Roman lady? Bring wine and luxury/indulgent food fit for a Roman feast. Caesar and a Roman Queen would also be a good choice.
