Selling a wedding dress

My wife has decided to sell her wedding dress (to free up more space in our flat, not as any dubious metaphor about our near 4 years of marriage...at least I hope not!) but we're having trouble attracting any meaningful enquiries and we wondered if anyone had had any success at this.

We've tried the custromer classifieds boards at local supermarkets, the local paper, specialist bridal websites (Bride 2 Bride) but no real flood of enquiries yet after over a week of activity.

Has anyone else tried this and have you had any success using any other, perhaps unexpected means?

Many thanks in advance.

My colleague sold hers on ebay a few weeks ago, although it had been on there a few months. A bridal shop bought it for £150, cost over £1000 new too!

You are never going to get your money back on a wedding dress, I'm afraid. Nor anything like.

People who will look in these places are looking for a bargain, You will not make much towards what you paid for it

    Facebook is worth a shot

Put it on ebay as brand new and unused, and say your cheating scum of a boyfriend paid for it but you want the money back on it for a holiday with his credit card

LOL ...... and who would want to buy a dress from a jinxed relationship (not that it was)

Don't think you have thought that one through ....................

If it's just to free up space rather than make money, have you considered donating it to charity? I don't mean the local shop - I believe places like Oxfam, British Heart etc. have dedicated shops. A friend of mine did that with her dress and raised £850 for charity.

The wedding wishing well foundation accept dresses via Johnsons the Cleaners - you could help to raise money for couples affected by terminal illness so they can get married before it's too late. Give them a look, very worthwhile x

I know what it's like. I haven't wore mine yet & it takes up half a cupboard in our flat.
Shame the rate a dress drops that's why i just got mine on ebay :p

The usual suspects really ebay , gumtree , local selling pages on facebook.

Another good site is preloved. Quite a few dresses on there that still fetch decent prices.
