Anyone know how good these TVs are - especially picture quality?
My parents' TV blew up last week. I've lent them my bedroom TV but need to get them a replacement.
They demand that it fits into a certain width (27" / 69cm), so that limits options for a 28" widescreen CRT.
I spotted the Panasonic in Currys when taking my dad around to view some models. However, the picture wasn't as good as many others around it. Although my dad is a whisker short of 80 years old and still has a cataract in one eye, his sight was still good enough to notice this for himself.
So, does anyone have one and can re-assure me that the picture is okay.
I will have to try to get the Currys staff to swap the aerial on the display set but the one they have may be a duff one.
Any other recommendations for a low width 28" widescreen less than £500?
Thanks

We had a Panasonic 28" about 3 years ago which lasted all of 5 weeks and broke down 4 times - hugely disappointed as I am a bit of a Panasonic fan. That said the WEGA Trinitron tube from Sony is FAR superior to others that are available, and reliability seems to be excellent. My brother in law has our last Sony 28" - we got it as a replacement for the faulty Panasonic - which our insurance wrote off after it had an incident involving our daughter and a mug of sweet tea. After a dry out and a minor repair to the IF strip, it has never missed a beat.
Hope this helps!
It seems that the choice of narrow 28" widescreens is between the Panasonic and the Tosh.
Having gone to Comet and Currys again, the only one actually in stock was the Toshiba which was in Currys at £330, but I got them to do a £299 price match with the same model at Comet(who were out of stock).
Picture seems very good and parents seem pleased so far. Heavy dammed things, good job they didn't want a 32"!
Thanks for the helpul suggestions.
