Songs that hit the number 2 spot but deserved the number one spot more than the artist/group who were number 1.

Newest One for me is All The LOvers being beaten By Califorian Gurls

Russian Roulette was also beaten by Peter Kay

Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc was beaten to #1 by Akon with 'Lonely', yuck!

Coldplay - Speed of Sound famously made #2 behind Crazy Frog with 'Axel F', nowhere near their best track but obviously FAR better than the competition!

I'm going to go for one from the 80's which is always a

'Vienna' by Ultravox reaching number 2 on the same week that Joe Dolce had 'Shaddap You Face' at number 1. Despite Ultravox being deprived of a number 1, 'Vienna' ended up selling more copies than 'Shaddup Your Face' by reaching number 5 in the best selling songs of 1981. 'Shaddap You Face' finished 8 in 1981's bestselling chart. Justice for Ultravox! :p

Fairytale of New York by the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl was kept off the top spot by 'Always on My Mind' by the Pet Shop Boys. I do like the Pet Shop Boys record but Fairytale of New York is much better in my opinion.
