If these were shoes that you guys were wearing they'd be the length of Ronald McDonald's and extra narrow.

Do you measure at 28 inches around the ribcage?

I measure just under 32 around the ribcage and according to the site thats my band size. Im unsure though as you always had to add on 4 or 5 inches so surely wearing a 32 when i usually wear a 36 would be way too small?

i got measured in a shop so i don't remember I would suggest doing it if you have not.

I got measured in ann summers who told me i was 36B. I bought bras from them that felt comfortable when i tried them on but after wearing them for a full day they arent comfortable.

I thought the 36 was too big so got a 34B but thats a lot worse!

The worst part is when you try them on in the shop they look and feel good. Even jumping and moving they are fine. When i took one off after a full day of wear there were red marks on my skin from the band and up the side.

Lighting in lingerie fitting rooms is made to make you look good. When I worked in Debenhams we only measured the back; I've found Boux Avenue to be very good; great service every time I've done in there.
Remember you should get measured approx. every six months as things do change; and as far as I am aware underwire or not does not really affect anything.
For a great sports bra try shock absorber; more expensive but they really are worth it; I'm a 32DD and they go nowhere.

Boux if the best shop at them moment I would say La Senza has gone downhill it does not even do a 30back.

I have never had anything from ann summers so its hard to say best shop around.

Ok so i found the perfect bra from boux. Fitted perfectly. Its the first bra ive had where i can tell that the band is taking most of the weight and not the straps. Wore it for a full day and didnt notice it was on it was that comfortable.

When i took it off at night i noticed red marks from the band, all the way around the back. They had gone when i got up but not i dont know what to do.

Am i best to keep wearing it until it stretches a bit, or wear one of those extender things? The bigger size didnt give the same support as this size.

    The red marks are normal!

this calculator may be more accurate as you have to put in a variety of measurements.

I'd be weary of measurements from the bigger chains and try to stick to a more specialist shop if you can.

For years I was getting measured as at 34DD - in all the department stores so I though well I definitely must be then. However the Bra's were always so uncomfy after a day and I always had horrible sore red marks. Like you I thought well it must be too tight.
I went to a specialist here in my town (they are amazing - no measuring they simply look at you and seem to know what size you are ! but more importantly they check the fit of every bra you try on) turns out I am a 30GG !
Have never had red marks again
I've recommended them to all my friends and all have gone down a back size (at least) and gone up a cup size or two !
So if you do get red marks like someone else had said previously try to go down a back size - also put the bra on the last hooks (you use the inner hooks as the elastic starts to go)

i wonder if everyone just went down a band size or two and up twice as many cup sizes it might not be to everyone's benefit. I've been saying that all through this thread.

well done on the 30GG :)
