Hi

In another twist to my Nokia 6110 Navigator map problem Vodafone have told me that if I take my phone to any Carphone Warehouse they are appointed Nokia repair centres who will unlock my maps for me. how true do you think this is and how do you get your local branch number so I can ring first and save a wasted journey if not true.

Carphone warehouse are Nokia repair centres, some have the facility in-store others have to send the phone away. There is a list on the Carphone Warehouse web site. Good luck with it.

Thanks for everyones help and advice but I finaly cracked and the Navigator is winging its way back to Vodafone tommorow. I am getting a Sony Ericsson W910i which I hope will be problem free. the Navigator was my dream phone, but beware anyone that orders one from Vodafone because it will not work without a lot of donkey work.

I still find it hard to understand why Vodafone wouldn't just give you a swap for a working phone. Very disappointing behaviour from them. Will make me think twice before ever considering Vodafone.

Hey guys, I can completely understand how frustrating this problem is, and it does seem strange that we won't just swap the phone for another 6110.
The truth is, it looks like at present none of the 6110s we have in stock have the service unlocked, so the same problem would occur even if we did swap it.

Of course within 14 days you can change your phone for a different one or the same one if yours is faulty, hence why we've swapped it for the SonyEricsson W910.

Fingers crossed you'll be happy with that phone, it'll do everything the 6110 does except the satnav, but there are always bluetooth GPS modules you can get to use combined with third party software on your phone. I use Wayfinder, for example.

recieved my W910i today and everything seems fine, I can not pretend I like it as much as the Nokia 6110 but I will have to put up with it, and you never know that in 18 months when i start looking for my new upgrade Vodafone might be supplying ones that work.
PS edwardpeter the whole idea of the navigator was that you did not need to pay for a bluetooth GPS and third party software.:)
