no real need to dedicate a thread to this is there. Why not just add it to the general Hobbit thread.

Nobody forced this critic to watch in it 48fps.

    I didn't realise there was a choice?

The screening he was given was probably the 48fps as PJ is trying to push it.

I imagine he didn't have a choice at the time. But us punters will very soon. :)

Ill be seeing it in 24 fps as none our cinemas will have 48 capability. however, I will judge the film purely on its merit and now how he (the critic) feels about 48 fps.

If Jackson thinks HFR is so amazing, why isn't there any showings of 48fps in 2D?

I think he's done all this just so people didn't whine about 3D induced headaches/nausea.

He's a film critic and there to lend a critical appreciation of the film, including the technical stuff. Seeing that the film is in 48fps, and seeing that this is the next big thing for cinema goers, it'd be odd that a film critic wouldn't watch it in 48fps.

BTW, the above is not an indication whether I'm for or against 48fps, for I haven't witnessed it.

Not just 48fps but I also heard this was filmed in 4k, which many production companies have been jumping over to. This higher res can give the impression of 3D without the need for extra kit like glasses, apparently.
