Channel 5 are showing a new cop-based drama which starts on 12 February at 10pm. It stars Fay Ripley, Damien Molony and Clare-Hope Ashitey.

The Radio Times have given it a great write-up. I am looking forward to it, firstly because of the gorgeous Damien Molony but also because it sounds intriguing.

I never watch Channel 5 so no fatigue for me!

This is what the Radio Times says:-
Your heart may not leap at the prospect of a new crime drama on Channel 5, particularly when you hear its mastermind is best known for series such as Footballers’ Wives and Hollyoaks. Doesn’t sound promising, does it? But cast those prejudices aside, because Suspects is good stuff. It’s a pure, pacy no-frills police procedural following three detectives led by DI Martha Bellamy (Faye Ripley), who in the opening episode have to track down a toddler snatched from her cot.

Just what we need, another crime drama

Are people not becoming bored of these yet?

"Bored of these" I would rather watch the first episode & give it a chance before moaning about a programme that has not aired yet, or perhaps Channel Five should just have invested in another food programme for the masses.

I'll be honest, when I first heard about this programme via Digital Spy it sounded "meh" but the previews suggest to me it's going to be excellent.

It's what ITV's "Crime Stories" should've been. Wonder if they'll be using the former Bill set?

This starts tonight at 10pm, Channel 5. From the various reviews of the first episode, it sounds excellent and the acting has been particularly praised. I am recording it to watch tomorrow.

New to Channel 5 tonight, Suspect is a serious police drama which has a a fully improvised script, the actors (including Faye Ripley) known the plot but have to make up their own diolog on the spot.

If anyone remembers the hilariously bad Crime Stories on ITV, it sounds like that but a serious adult drama.

I've seen some things about it but it's the first time i've heard that it's improvised.

That might be worth a look for good and bad reasons :D

I never heard about that either, it got an instant series link from me when i read it lol. You never know it could be awesome! I am hoping for some of the technical dialogue to go into made-up Star Trek territory tho :D

Someone who's seen it says it needs a scriptwriter.

Awful so far. Worse acting than on Home & Away.

    Indeed!

Absolutely pointless so far. Taking the all style no substance mantra to extremes. Only without the style.

Bring back The Bill! (I'm not even saying bring it back at Sun Hill, or with the same characters - but as a police format it was brilliant)

Very run of the mill. Yet another child abduction cop drama. Yawn. This is like that ITV daytime drama which used real cops with ex soap actors.

    God, this is dire!

Especially Fay Ripley. Her scenes almost have the feel of a 'spoof' about it - I can't take her seriously.

    Give them a script, FFS.
