French and Shark porn are shocking.

I also hate the one with the ring, that storyline is just way too unbelievable for words and the b plot with Bruce Willis crying is equally poor.

Best and worst episodes - oh this could me a while.
Two favourites are TOW the baby on the bus, TOW after the super bowl.
I think season three was my favourite.
Also the one with the jellyfish and Emmas birthday.

Worst... Hm I'm not sure, I kinda feel the last one coz of the carry on from Ross And Rachel and the shrillness of Phoebe.

Best the one with the bullies.
'Monica, would you relax, go get a beer?'
    'I don't want a beer!'
'Who said it was for you?'

Worst......hmm. The One With The Jam. Just really, really slow. What Friends had over every other US show was pace. This one was a rare example of it lacking.

The one where Phoebe hates PBS is a poor episode. How could Joey have thought he was the host and why did he only find out at such short notice?!

Having said how much I despise Rachel when they break up in season 3, Ross is so unlikeable in early season 5. It had clearly been written that way as Ross was meant to leave the show to be replaced by Danny, so they made him as unlikeable as possible. All Ross cared about was not getting divorced again. And why did he try and convince Carol and Susan to move to London? Completely delusional of Ross!

Never heard that before. Do you have a source for this?

I have heard this, but only recently. Not sure whether it is something that has only just come to light.

I really can't imagine how things would have been had this happened, Danny was not particularly likeable himself in his brief appearances, in my opinion.

I find it odd that nobody asked Chandler or Monica if they were seeing anyone when hiding their relationship

I wonder what was on the note that Phoebe wrote for Ross to stop people eating his sandwich. Another episode where Phoebe talks up "living on the street"

I hope it was that. Maybe Phoebe's street days were just referring to her being in Annie

When Rachel overheard Chandler and Monica on the phone, was the name that Chandler was called "Mr Big"? I'd have thought that Monica would come up with something better than that

Especially as we all know Chandler isn't Mr Big

TOW the Male Nanny. Ross is such a jerk in that one

Totally agree! It also makes me realise how Friends seems so long ago- now a male nanny or a Lesbian couple -meh. Then it was cue to giggles.

I agree with others that they became caricatures of themselves. The show was still funny but in the early seasons it was always played normal which made it funny.
Towards the end despite the fact they were now in their late 20's the expressions and over the top hand gestures and immaturity of the characters didn't make it as good as the first few seasons which were gold.
There is a big difference watching early seasons and the later ones with all the characters. Phoebe was always aloof so could get away with it. The girls and Ross were always my favourite characters. Joey I didn't find believable that he would be that dumb and Chandler had too many little gimmicks/phrases attached to him that I didn't find funny.
The character of Ross they really messed up as for a while they just made his character bizarre and weird and over the top.
I thought Rachel had the best character development of them all but from the first show she was shown as shallow and dependant on her fathers money so this was always likely to be the case as her character had room to grow in many ways.
I thought Monica character changed for worse when she was with Chandler I actually thought her and Richard were the better couple.

in the one with Rachels book, why is Joey afraid of Rachel when she pretends to come on to him. She'd have got some land if he responded positively !!
Interestingly thought Rachel behaves pretty much the same when she actually tries to have sex with JoeY

The main gripe for me was always that while seasons 1-3 and even 4 to a extent used clever witty humour to great effect, after that the writers obviously got lazy and resorted to silliness, toilet humour and cheap childish stuff to try and get laughs. It actually made a bit of a mockery of most of the characters and some of the stuff was just completely stupid and often contradicted stuff that had happened in previous episodes/seasons.

They did seem to raise their game a bit in the very late seasons making things a bit more adult again but it never recaptured the magic of the early years.

This does seem to be the norm with US sitcoms though, Two and a Half Men was very such the same, cleverly written for the first few seasons then resorting to toilet humour and silly stuff later on.

someone who asked if Phoebe said the F word in one of the episodes, it sounded like it but no when she was pregnant she said it felt like the triplets were playing "bring in the noise, bring in the funk" inside her

I thought she had but it would be odd if that was the only time anyone ever swore

They said ass, bitch and bastard from time to time but nothing stronger I think. I wonder why shit and the f word was off limits,
    Or did they say shit..

True, but they would have fallen out

Possibly. But I got the impression that while he may have been her "boss" in the department, he was not in any position to hire/fire her.

Because those words are acceptable and the others aren't, And most friends episodes are PG and were made with syndication in mind. F words would kill that

I personally don't get the later season hate. In general, I think it stayed consistent with the exception of S7 which only had a handful of good episodes. The whole planning for the wedding plot was awful IMO.

I genuinely thought S9-10 were fantastic.

I find it odd that when its revealed that Ross slept with Janice, Chandler is the only one not present.Chandler was still in Yemen as far as Janice was aware but they were in his apartment where Ross was living at the time

Ross was treated harshly about Howard the handyman. Don't get how Phoebe walked into the wrong party

Phoebe and Gary is a dull story

The wedding planning is boring but season 7 has some great episodes. Will let you know about gripes when I get to it

She must have lied about that as she even put money in for his fund, Phoebe went to the party because and lied to Ross as she is prone to do

What on earth was Chandler thinking getting Monica a cleaner? A - they live in a small apartment with no kids and B - Monica actively loves cleaning!

Though it did lead to one of my fave Monica moments, with her head stuck between the cleaners legs "I'm sorry I've never had a maid before, is this not OK?" :D

    Love that episode
