The app takes you to the wrong version, though. Or, at least, it did for me - kept taking me to the "enhanced" version that wasn't free. Had to find it manually instead.

Strange - it worked perfectly for me! I could select either the SD or HD download for free.

Strangely enough, they aren't in the store now its promotion day is over. Can't view via this link, nor via right clicking the entry in iTunes and choosing 'Show in Store'. Must be a very limited license.
That's a con. 2 quid to buy cook books on it as in asp purchases. That's not a gift app at all.
I've not looked at it yet, but it is supposed to come with 84 recipes and 700 high res photos. It is a 329MB download. There are supposed to be in-app purchases to expand it up to 240 recipes and 2000 photos.
TBH I hardly ever cook at the best of times, so it's not really aimed at people like me
Shark Dash isn't bad, bought it for me and my girlfriend when it came out. Only other things of interest to me this year was Sonic Jump which we both downloaded, although she would have had that Sherlock ep if she didn't already have it
I do think this particular promotion is dead and buried unfortunately. In the current freemium environment at least, most companies know that the only way to gain interest in their apps is to give them away for free with in-app purchases so it tends to make the promotion redundant unless they can secure some 'big' name apps to give away.
But then what apps are there left to give away ?. All of the most popular ones are freebies anyway, so it's another reason why it's not worth doing.

That's it for this year. Only things I've bothered keeping was the Sherlock pilot episode and the two books.
Missed it last year. Google had good deals on though.
You're telling me

I don't think they did it last year so (as others have said), I doubt they will bring it back. They didn't do Black Friday either.
