Calibrating SKY+ Picture on Pioneer PDP-436XDE

I have a 436xde and I was wondering if I could use a calibration disc such as DVE or the THX optimiser via scart to calibrate my screen.

Is this a good way to go ?

Yes it is a good option to take.

You will be able to set the screen to what you feel looks best. It will also flag out any problems,
which could be seen as good or bad. (If you know what i mean?)

Here is a link to what you would need to do the job.

    Latest TEST disc

If you feel that you would like to take it to the next stage
then you could invest in a test tool here is the link:

    Test Tool

If you are still not happy with the results then you can arrange your screen to be ISF Calibrated.
This would be my option to take and worth the cost long term.

A technical man will or offer do 2 things IN Picture AV selection

[1] Set the screen in a DAY light environment.
[1a] Set the screen in a NIGHT like environment.

You will then gain 2 new Picture options called Night & Day.

[2] Or might just use your User Picture option for ISF settings.

Here is one of many ISF sites. Pioneer will also offer a U.K List to places that offer ISF setting up.
Be careful with Pioneer has the list is out of date. Someone at Pioneer should update the list

    ISF

    Hope this is helpful...

You've got a very good screen.

I've seen demo's and the picture quality looked very good.

    Take care...
