    Oh my, a slightly different looking BBC1 Christmas Day schedule.

    A pretty good one too. Ruined by having an hour of Eastenders in it, but you can't have everything in life.

    Would've personally gone for...

    5.00 Strictly Come Dancing
    6.15 EastEnders
    6:45 Doctor Who
    7.45 Call the Midwife
    9.00 EastEnders
    9:30 Miranda
    10.00 Mrs Brown's Boys

    Split EE into two and have a comedy hour with Miranda and MBB.

    Since ITV weren't going to budge, and BBC weren't going to take anything out of the schedule, that's actually the best schedule they could have done. I would have liked EastEnders to have a better lead in, even if it meant splitting it around Mrs Brown's Boys, but airing the second EastEnders after 10pm wouldn't have been ideal.

    An hour at 9pm is still better than them splitting it and airing the first episode early though, it's just not strong enough at the moment to do that.

    And if anyone cares this is what ITV's schedule looks like (from Digiguide and apologies if I've repeated what others have already posted)

    15:00: The Queen
    15:10: The Queen’s Garden
    16:10: ITV News
    16:20: Elf: Buddy’s Magical Christmas
    17:20: You’ve Been Framed!
    17:50: Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs at Christmas
    18:50: ITV News
    19:00: Emmerdale
    20:00: Coronation Street
    21:00: Downton Abbey
    23:00: ITV News

    ITV surely won't keep it the same with the BBC head-starting them on everything?

    At the least Corrie should go to 19:50 and ITV News at 20:50.

    That's basically what I predicted the other day. They obviously wanted to avoid a 6.15pm EE. I'd have preferred this, but I do like the bold move of putting Miranda on in mid evening.

    Not happy that the final episode starts half way through an hour long EmFm on NYD though, but I guess Em will be dented by Esio Trot (I assume remains its lead in)

    Radio Times seems to have Em and Coro down for an hour on Boxing Day at 7pm. I assume its Em first then Coro (with EE at 9pm)?

    Must have been a BBC1 revamp for Boxing Day then too. I guess Boy in Dress goes up against Corrie after all with Open All Hours lead in?

    Why, oh why have they put in bl***dy YBF!? Its cheap tat. It should be taken off Christmas Day.

    it could set them up for a good night if Miranda pulls in a big audience (which if promoted well it will do in any slot.)

    Indeed and iirc My Family used to get very good figures in a similar slot 11-12 years ago. I think that's a good schedule considering where ITV parked their soap block.

    Take out CS and DA and that's quite a weak schedule. No doubt even CS won't hold up for them as usual this year. Aww, let the ratings predictions start now! :)

    Mrs Brown will win the day. Think EastEnders will be down on last year which it wouldn't have been.
    I would have done EE 7.15 7.45 Midwife 9.Miranda 9.30 EE 10.Mrs Brown or 9.EE 9.30 Miranda.
    Why is Emmerdale an hour on Boxing day. It's a Friday. And it would be strange ic Corrie was 7 and Emmerdale 8.
    I presume Xmas Eve is the same.

    Also, if you ask yourself the question:

    "Which of the following offers the weakest ratings competition to Middle Britain's favourite sitcom Miranda

    (a) Downton Abbey
    (b) Coronation St
    (c) Emmerdale?"

    Is anyone out there not going to go with (c)?

    Exactly. They have given it the least competitive prime time slot.

    Against that, we know that there are fewer people viewing in the 7pm hour than the 9pm hour. But stuff like DW has overnighted to 10m in that slot in the not too distant past.

    There are big audiences to be had early evening as Doctor Who has shown over the years. Miranda and Mrs Brown's Boys would still have been gold on BBC1 at 9pm. Toshi's schedule is what I would have done.

    I love this. And it was one I genuinely thought of last night.

    BBC1 looks better in the confirmed schedule. But what could have been!

    BBC1 twitter account has blown the gaff (well, mostly) on the Christmas ident/presentation by tweeting the show times!

    Here are the trees then....

    https://twitter.com/bbcone

    Looks AWESOME!

    Suggests completely new presentation style launching too, as the movie style strapline for the programme title and TX times is what BBC2's current Christmas cooking trailer is doing.

    How exciting!

    I would have done EE 7.15 7.45 Midwife 9.Miranda 9.30 EE 10.Mrs Brown or 9.EE 9.30 Miranda.

    That would have clashed with Emmerdale and it's too weak to air at 6.15 imho.

    Birds of a Feather NYD at 8:30pm after Miranda on BBC1 at 8pm.

    Should give Birds a good lead in depending on what Birds has against it?

    BBC is definitely the best it possibly could've been against that ITV schedule. I just hope they've also improved Christmas Eve and left Boxing Day untouched.

    It may have been able to beat Emmerdale and Would have made the second episode stronger in the sandwich.
    The BBC do seem to tweeting and promoting Christmas Day EastEnders more than last year so good trailering will help its ratings.

    We don't have anything from ITV yet so changes could still be afoot.

    I would recommend:

    15:10 The Queen's Garden {directly follows Queen}
    16:10 ITV News
    16:20 Paul O'Grady's Dogs
    17:15 Elf: Buddy's Magical Christmas {leads in to Doctor Who)
    18:15 Emmerdale {vs Doctor Who}
    19:15 You've Been Framed {vs Miranda}
    19:50 Coronation Street {vs Midwife}
    20:50 ITV News
    21:00 Downton Abbey {vs EastEnders}

    For reference, BBC1's confirmed schedule:

    17:00 Strictly
    18:15 Doctor Who
    19:15 Miranda
    19:50 Call The Midwife
    21:00 EastEnders
    22:00 Mrs Brown's Boys

    There's an hour-long EastEnders at 8:30pm on BBC One.

    Followed by Mrs Brown i Guess EastEnders moved to avoid Emmerdale.
