Problems with signal quality

I have a Sky HD box and notice that recently the picture freezes/stutters/breaks up a bit too often for my liking. Certainly, going back a few months this was a VERY rare occurence. I think this is happening for both live pictures and recordings.

When I looked at the Signal Strength in the Services menu I see the LNB 1 has strength and quality arounf the 75% mark. For LNB 2, the strength is good but quality is not registering anything!!!!!

Any idea what is causing this - should I be looking for a replacement LNB?

I would have thought that this would affect either live or recorded stuff, not both.

Does LNB2 feed live or recorded matertial?

Could be a syptom of the box's power supply beginning to fail.

What make* is it and how old is it?

    * If it's a Thomson, the bulging capacitor problem is most likely.

I wd think the most likely cause is an imperfect water seal on the affected lnb output. If not well moisture protected, then, crud slowly builds up around the connector, due to electolytic action (contact potential between different metals, usually the cable copper and connector aluminium).

If you can access the lnb, take a look. Of course, lnb slow failure is also possible ......
