A friend of mine met Alan Davies once.
The man plays an affable idiot most of
the time on Q.I. but when meeting the
public, aparently he is a right miserable
and grumpy so and so!
My friend took part in Bargain Hunt a few years ago and the BBC were filming a "celebrity programme" at the same time. Julian Clary was one of the celebs and my friend said when they were filming the shopping part he was so stuck up and up himself and refused to sign autographs for people who recognised him.
When they filmed the Auction him and his Mother sat in the room set aside as the green room and didn't speak to or mingle with anyone, he filmed his bit of the Auction and then walked out with his nose in the air and hid away again.

I've met Cat Deeley a few times at recordings of CD:UK, she was really stuck up, unfriendly and wouldn't engage with 'ordinary people', she just turned it on for the cameras. Was disappointed.
But luckily she was balanced out by ppl I've met who have been surprisingly delightful. (Richard Bacon springs to mind, but that's another thread, lol)
I met Giant Haystacks at a motorway service station in the mid 1980s. There's a picture of me and my brother with him somewhere at my mum and dads house. He looks dead pissed off in the picture cos he got annoyed at waiting for the flash of my dads camera to warm up.

Ha, just beat me to it! Cilla doesn't come out too well. There's also an airline workers forum on the same topic. Link is somewhere in this thread.
I thought this was supposed to be about people who are different when not on the telly?
My partner works for BA and apparently she's horrid

Miserable and grumpy isn't vile though.
Geoff Hurst is another I've heard of as being a tosser. There are many tales out there of Geoff & Danny.
Beat me to it
A friend of a friend spent this Xmas Day with Sue Pollard. They said she was nice but scatty and never stopped talking the whole time she was there.

I guess he's pretty uncommunicative these days.
Danny Kaye had a gay fling with Larry Olivier in the 1940s.
I've always wondered if "Inch Worm" was more than just a song
Not talked to Rodney Bewes since the 70s, IIRC and blocking any repeats of The Likely Lads.
Total opposite of his Likely Lads character - hates Newcastle and not spoken to Bewes since he revealed to the press that James' wife was pregnant.
