Yup out of the US we don't hear anything really in the mainstream media apart from how charming he is ect, they aren't even really critical or investigative on our own government anyway.

Think this guy is turning out to be another Blair. Gallup approval rating still only 45%.

He was the greatest man walking on the face of the earth when he entered, everybody wanted to be him. It's sad to think we only have 6 years left of him. :(

    I hope he can improve.

Obama is a salesman he is no president, he is the same as Bush and all the rest. They are actors who work for the moneymen that really control the USA.

I mean look at Obama's history, he has been groomed by the likes of Brizinksy (can't spell the name) from a very young age to become President.

He has no character whatsoever, he just reads his lines and goes away.

The US moneymen who actually have the US government by the nuts control both parties, you only have to follow the trails and you always get the same people pulling the strings.

The same people behind Obama are the same people behind nearly every president since the 60's, Bush snr for instance was the man behind Reagan, he said of Bill Clinton (like a son to me), and then his own son becomes President.

That is almost 3 decades of ex CIA Bush involvement in the Whitehouse.

Hes popular because he's a symbol of intelligence and sanity among the insanity that is American politics.

He's too right-wing for my liking, but If I were voting in America I'd probably vote for Obama (or a democrat), simply because the alternative is much worse.

I guess the rest of the world likes it when the POTUS doesnt fit every negative American stereotype you can think of. So I think it's a case of who he isn't rather than who he is.

I can't bloody stand him, if I was an American I probably wouldn't have voted.

McCain was alright but the Republicans are too right-wing and had Palin.

The only hope for the US is Ron or Rand Paul running for the job, two people who speak from the heart, something the US has not seen for a very very long time.

It's Saturday night, and it's late. I'm assuming you are having a joke.

This guy is no better than the witch O'Donnell, or the wingnut Palin.

Rand Paul is so egregious I'd rather vote for Ted Kennedy --- and they've had to dig him up because he's dead. At least he would make some sense.

btw. Both are rabid homophobes - what are you trying to tell us about your views?

Isn't Rand Paul that very tall black American drag artists? ;):D

"RuPaul Andre Charles (born November 17, 1960), best known as simply RuPaul, is an American actor, drag queen, model, author, and singer-songwriter, "

I saw her (him) before they were famous.

Nope, I second that - Ron Paul is just as much a 'loon' as the rest of the republicans, and just as much a complete bigot too. He's also a bit of a religious nut (y'know - that crazy evangelical christian/protestant/Mormon bunch that quite frankly damage American politics and society).

Only difference is that he is more articulate than most of his republican counterparts - which obviously isn't something to be impressed by.

I agree with Ron Paul on the current war and on the absurdity of America's foreign policy, but other than that the rest of his policy and opinion is utter nonsense.

    For example his voting record is as follows;
    • Voted YES on banning gay adoptions in DC. (Jul 1999)
    • Opposes “hate crimes” legislation. (Sep 2007)
    • Don’t ask, don’t tell is a decent policy for gays in army. (Jun 2007)
    • Gender-equal pay violates idea of voluntary contract. (Dec 1987)
    • No legislation to counteract the homosexual agenda. (Sep 2007)
    • No need for Marriage Amendment; DOMA is enough. (Sep 2007)
    • Abortion is murder.
    • Voted NO on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Jan 2007)
    • Voted YES on banning partial-birth abortions. (Apr 2000)

    So...

It is the whole Clinton/Blair thing. He's young, good looking, fresh faced. Don't think about the policies because there aren't many there. Style over substance. Never the less I think he will win the next Presidential election just like Clinton did.

Nor does the BBC ... which may explain why they continue to fetishise Barack Obama.
