Google looks funny today

Anyone noticed this? It's like the page is zoomed in and the search bar is too wide. Tried in two different browsers and looks the same. Really jarring, once you type a search in its like the page gets bigger and a scroll bar is added.

It looks fine to me, am only using chrome so will check with others browsers in a sec.

    EDIT:

I don't know whether its just that i haven't used FF or IE in ages but google looks different on both of them. I dont get any of the other problems though...

The size of the letters in the search box and the options it offers are larger and in bold....

looked fine to me untill I decided to run CCleaner. - clean out the browser cache.

Firefox and Chrome now show the same BIG search buttons and text box. A few days ago the "Web, Images, Video, Maps etc" toolbar disappeared from all of goggles search pages when Mail went down.

Thanks for your post, I thought I was going nuts wondering how I'd managed to change my screen/font/zoom or whatever! Phew!

there is a story about this on the reg
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/09/10/google_big_box/

Marissa Mayer says - "Although this is a very simple idea and an even simpler change, we're excited about it — because it symbolises our focus on search and because it makes our clean, minimalist homepage even easier and more fun to use."

i could hate Marissa Mayer if i wasn't in love with her.

Oh no, This is a really bad change, it looks ridiculous on a netbook screen, and just looks like someone has zoomed it in.

I saw it last night, ended up checking my settings etc

    it just looks 'wrong'
also, stupidly, its not compatible with IE8, have to run it in compatibility view

& why just do it, why not put an explanation on the main page

is 2009 the start of the downward slope for google?

It still looks normal to me, I even ran CCleaner and cleared the cache but no change.

I feel oddly left out again :( .... like when I was the only one with a capital I for the Inbox in gmail. :D

Have tried them both and they both still look the same to me, as said, I have even cleared out my cache.

Probably different servers updating then, as I can see it on .com but not .co.uk in FF but in IE8 its changed on both.

The box and buttons are bigger for me, as well as the font for suggestions. Every other piece of text, like at the top and the legal info stuff are the same size.

The changes aren't appearing on my pc but when I saw my brother on the laptop the changes were appearing on there. I didn't like the bigger font and it looked weird but I guess I'll guess use to it.

clean out your browser cache completely to notice as it will load a fresh.

It looks odd because I have always thought the Google logo was too small and text box was too high up the page to begin with. Bing and Ask look better centered. Now Google looks even more 1998 and out of proportion.

They need to move the Web, Images, Movie etc search links back above the search box too where it used to be. Its much quicker there instead of up on the far left.
