Which of your DSFE entries which fell at the first hurdle is your favourite?
Now, I've had one or two (!) songs go out at the first hurdle, my own faves being the following:
5: NeussKing Foo - Funky Foo Ride - Far from being a great track in and of itself, but for me there's something endearingly ramshackle about this one. Slightly notable for coming last on 43 points despite scoring two 12s! 4: ReadingGruff Rhys - American Interior - Probably a bit 6 Music-ish in retrospect, love everything Gruff has ever done solo or with the Super Furries though. 3: TallinnThe Jepettos - Goldrush - Perhaps fey was not the way to go and I seem to remember the winsomeness of this song annoyed a few reviewers at the time. Have to admit that the video straddles the border between lovely and mawkish. 2: AlmatyBirdeatsbaby - Anchor - One of my favourite live bands and I was hopeful that this joint effort with Spinbrandispin might just scrape into the semi-final. Only it didn't. 1: TallinnWax Tailor - Down In Flames - I love everything about this track (still a fixture on the iPod car mix) and the accompanying video but unfortunately the song was named rather too aptly.
Would be only fair to mention a few songs by other FMs which went out far too early in my book:
The above three maybe a bit esoteric to be to everyone's taste, but am grateful to the player in each case.
This was an early gamble for me, in my second contest. It didn't pay off, which I'm fairly sad about, because it is one of my favourite songs ever. Glad you still like it.
But yeah. I either get awful countries and send random stuff in the heat of the moment, or I get good countries, drag them to the final and then they either exceed my expectations or they bomb having done well earlier in the contest.
My favourite one that didn't make it is from Trondheim. I'd requsted Tunisia especially to send it, it had won numerous other contests like this at the time and to end up with 28 points in the QF was disappointing

Mine would be the lesser-spotted March Mornings, his taste matched almost perfectly with mine & his reviews were epic. What about all of you?
I'm hunting you down! Just give me a couple of years... ;-) I think I've taken your old role of consistent results without ever winning...
My favourite players have varied a lot over time in terms of whose songs I usually like the most, at the start it was kvn and Katsuya, then it was stanld03 and Carlisle, then Cuishla and penguinperson, perhaps more recently Mies and Alexos.
But then I seem to get good reviews from MissMidgard so in conclusion, I don't know, you're all my favourites! (except Alex, who's my 3rd favourite ;-))
