Very good interview with Jazmin below. It is possible that she could carry on being an athlete for the next eight years or so, and then take up a singing career. She is very talented.

not trying to be an arse here but if she wants to focus on athletics for the next 8 years and then maybe pursue a career in music when she retires it seems a bit pointless being on the show now

Not really because she is putting herself out there for people to take note of what she can do, and although it is early days she has had a very positive reaction. It would be difficult to do both careers at the same time.

the show is for people who want to get a career in music now

    not in 8 years time

but no point trying to get you to see logic ...

Bear in mind shows like the The Voice might not be around or even more out of vogue than they are now in 8 years.

She explained how she fits in and has fitted in her music and given she has just finished a degree she would have even more time now.

It does make some sense to push music if it isn't detrimental time wise because she isn't a massive sports name (yet). If she became a Mo Farah or Jess Ennis stature and then tried music people would say that she didn't get where she was musically through talent but merely because she was heavily publicly known.

but if she does plan on concentrating on athletics for the next 8 years, and its a full time job maintaining the level of an olympic finalist, then who is going to care that she was on The Voice in 2017

what happens if she wins, is she going to turn down the recording contract ?

i quite liked her, musically she is not my cup of tea but she has a great look and seems very likeable, just dont think the show is for someone who only sees music as a future career once they have spent 8 years in their current career of choice

As with any top level athlete it's very easy to get a long term, or even a career ending injury, so by doing this it does give her another option.

She's also got a good law degree as well, so that's another option for her.

Interesting in that BBC3 article it says "she was asked to audition" for The Voice, seemingly based on her YouTube channel. Are the producers going out looking for talent now instead of relying on applications received?

That's true actually, so it's all good for her really.

Probably doesn't hurt to pull in the sponsors. The better known public face she is the more sponsorship she'll attract, the better coaching and facilities she can afford etc etc
She seems a very sorted woman, even at only 22 and is probably hedging her bets. If she could fit in a degree, and many athletes do, she should be able to fit in something else to take its place especially in this day and age technology being as it is.

The producers have been scouting for talent since day 1.

I'd wager a minority of the ones that make it to the televised auditions got there without being scouted or recommended.

The Voice Us has had 11 winners so far. Only 2 came from a cattle call audition. The rest were "invited" to audition.

She has plenty of time to be able to do both, and has the talent to do so.

Who the hell are we decide for her - or tell her what she should do, or even give advice about the choices she makes?

Back off. The girls has many talents. She is focused and hard working, and she has a brain. She can do what she wants without you lot huffing and puffing over her decisions!

Bet you wish you were that talented!

Jazmin having some fun at the athletics yesterday, and a good second place for her too. Looking forward to seeing her in the battles next weekend.
