Haven't seen my mate at work for a week or so, but he had 1000's upon 1000's of reward points and was always going on about them, wonder if he cashed them in quick sharp a few weeks back when the news first leaked.
Southend's Game & Gamestation have surrived so far...
I can see them closing one keeping the other, always seemed a bit odd having two close together when they are owned by the same company, will have to wait and see what the futurte holds for them.
This is the list I was sent, (not confirmed though)
which tbh.. is kinda strange ...the game store is in the shopping centre and is way busier than the gamestation out on high street , guess the rent is cheaper out of the shopping centre
Was just thinking the same about the Edinburgh ones. According to the list the Princes Street one is closing but no mention of the one in The Gyle.
Edinburgh Ocean Terminal
Edinburgh Princes Street
Edigburgh Cameron Toll
Edinburgh Fort Kinaird

Just can't figure keeping the less prominent locations open but shutting the big stores. So far most administrations have seen the larger stores saved look at TJ hughes and Peacocks.
If your shopping in Edinburgh Princess Street is the one to go. Otherwise you would have to actually live in Edinburgh to really go to another branch.
I imagine if they are saved they would have to look at units elsewhere in these cities with less rent. Makes no sense to have no store in Newcastle or Edinburgh or only one in Glasgow.

Is the one in norwich the main one or two as I recall their being 2 of them.
2 out of the 3 Game and Gamestation stores in Stevenage have closed (the 2 that were closest to eachother) the 2nd Game store remains open at the other end of the high street.
Welwyn Garden City Game has closed while the Gamestation stays open.
Edit: Just been reading this
Some staff from GAME's 13 Irish stores are reportedly considering a sit-in protest over unpaid redundancy.
Administrators PwC have told staff they will pay them their March wages but nothing beyond – including their April pay from their notice period and any redundancy compensation.
Instead, PwC has told staff to claim official state redundancy from the Government.
UPDATE: We are currently receiving reports that a sit-in is under way at one of GAME's Dublin stores.

Gamestation was always the better store in WGC, so I am glad that one has stayed for now. Of course it is a shame that either of them had to close and people lost their jobs.
the blackpool branch in houndshill is listed as closed on mcv site.
Yeah I've been told it was closed. it just pointing out Rick Jones list was missing it of there. Is there is there stil a gamestation near town any word on what is happening with that ?
I'm really quite saddened for all involved. The Game I used most had been there for well over fifteen years and was the better of the two in the City. I'm really hoping the other one survives, and the Gamestation store.
Sad stuff, even if they have driven the cart off the road.
In Colchester Game did have 2 stores as of yesterday.
A larger Game which is located at Lion Walk Shopping Centre, 87 Culver Walk, Town Centre.
And a small one which is located at Culver Square Shopping Centre, 3 Shewell Walk, Town Centre.
But from reading the list of Game stores that are closing down there will now only be the large one which is located at Lion Walk Shopping Centre, 87 Culver Walk, Town Centre.
The small Game located at Culver Square Shopping Centre, 3 Shewell Walk, Town Centre is on the list of Game's to close.
I was in both of the Colchester Game stores yesterday (Sunday) because I still had some money left on my £20 Game gift card that my brother brought for me for Christmas last year and I wanted to use the rest of it incase Game did go bust or incase they went in to administration and decide that they are no longer going to accept gift cards.
I am glad that I did because as we know from the news coming out of Game today they are no longer accepting gift cards.
With what was left on my £20 Game gift card here is what I got.
From the Large Game store located at Lion Walk Shopping Centre, 87 Culver Walk, Town Centre the one that has survived the closure I got 2 use XBOX 360 games.
Need For Speed Shift £4.98
Need For Speed 2 Unleashed £9.98
So that was my gift card used.
And then from the small Game store located at Culver Square Shopping Centre, 3 Shewell Walk, Town Centre I brought another used XBOX 360 game which was Forza Motorsport 2 for the excellent price of £1.98.
In Colchester there also used to be a Gamestation located at 46-48 Long Wyre Street Colchester Essex CO1 1LJ which was were I preordered and brought my aqua blue 3DS from but it closed down late last year and has since been turned in to a hair dressers.
Also from reading the list it looks like the following Game stores near me have survived the closure.
High Chelmer Shopping Centre, Exchange Way, Town Centre, Chelmsford.
19 Tavern Street, City Centre, Ipswich
Gamestation
13 Carr Street, Ipswich, GB
I am surprised that Game are keeping both Game and Gamestation open in Ipswich.
I am not sure if the very small Game located in Debanhams Chelmsford is still there?
This is a very sad day and I feel very sorry for the people that work at Game and Gamestation who have or will lose there jobs.
And let's not forget that before Game there was Electronic Boutique and before that it was Future Zone.
MCV erroneously reports that a GAME at Princes Quay in Hull has closed. That store actually closed a week or two ago (definitely before Friday), so shouldn't be on the list, as it didn't close down today.

Prominent location = bigger rent. And as they are in administration, income obviously isn't enough to cover the costs. Keeping a cheap store open, which will probably see trade increase = best option.
Yep it's just so funny to see 1000's lose there jobs.....................
yeah, its shame for the workers, and shame for the high street too. That'll be yet another £1 shop or money lending shop that will probably take its place.

Yeah I saw the notices inside the store before it closed, it was supposed to close on the 24th March

The Blackpool store is missing of that list

Plenty more business for the locally owned store, then.

Thats where i tend to get most of my games from! Plus they are very helpful in there.
Unfortunately, Game hasnt though and my friend and a fair few others have lost there jobs at Head office too!
