Now if they could just take a look at Game Of Thrones...

Seriously, I know I go on about it a lot, but some of the stuff that programme gets away with being so close to the watershed is criminal. Aren't the guidlines supposed to be to ease horrific material in gradually? I'm guessing a porn and torture scene at 9.15pm is ok then?

Its a difficult one to define. Technically the watershed starts at 9:00pm, but you are right, Ofcom states there should be clear warnings if a broadcaster is going to show adult content immediately after 9pm, and in some cases the content should be gradually stepped up after the watershed rather than an immediate change.

A recent example – Ofcom fined Sky One for airing an episode of Strike Back at 9pm, with full frontal female nudity at 9:04pm. Ofcom took this action because although the programme was pre-empted with a warning, it followed an episode of The Simpsons which typically has a family audience.
I’m guessing that Ofcom doesn’t mind Game of Thrones being broadcast at 9pm on Sky Atlantic because warnings are given in advance and the channel doesn’t typically show any ‘family’ programmes, particularly at the watershed lead in 8:30pm slot. Having said that I’m sure if people complained they would take action...

Considering this programme on Discovery was show pre 5pm and not 9pm or after is the problem.

Tonight 8pm - David Attenborough's Kingdom Of Plants

Sounds pretty family friendly to me, unless Sir David has been corrupted by Sly TV and is in a sex scene.

Interesting, I didn't even know Sky had 'previous' over things like this.

£100k well spent - I'd never heard of "Investigation Discovery".

People need to get a life, it's just a documentary and it hardly harming anyone is it.

The sooner Ofcom are closed down and the Watershed is abolished to better. Parents should look after their kids more and if they don't want them watching shows they think are unsuitable then it should be up to them to stop them. Stop spoiling TV for everyone else.

If people want to watch Game Of Thrones or Television X at 9am on Sky1 then they should be able to. It's just a TV show.

But at that time of day, theres a likelihood that children would be watching. Also if you think we are tough, dont watch American TV!

Its not followed by Game of Thrones though, or anything that contains lots of nudity, violence or strong language, its followed by Silicon Valley.

What has your (some might say un-healthy) obsession with GoT got to do with the article you've linked to? Seriously, the number of subjects you link to it are getting ever more tenuous. I'm worried that you're really losing your grip on reality. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the so-called watershed, and no matter how violent it may be, GoT is always shown after it, never, ever before. The show in question in the article was shown "...at various times during the morning and afternoon...during the school holidays" and "...at 07:50...".

It was fined because of when it was shown, not specifically what was shown. There's no valid comparison to be made when it comes to the suitability of content.

Was going to do a thread myself.

The very nature and purpose of these channels seems now to be devoted exclusively to showing programmes about the subject of murder, it's rather sensational, documentaries just for the more base entertainment of viewers really, but whatever you think of that

Adults who enjoy these programmes are not able to view them at any time of the day just because of the mere existence of children. that's a bit ludicrous, especially as the channels are on a fairly expensive subscription packages.

Children are going to learn about murder anyway, and parents could realise it's not necessarily to expect the content of each Sky channel to be suitable for their children.

i agree you don't have these stupid rules in other countries and with a lot of the games out there to play its worse then some of the stuff shown on tv and a lot of parents let there kids watch adult shows any way i think it should just be for porn it has to be in the night.
