Which DVD Player - Yamada MX-105 or Philips DVP5100

Please can someone advise, which is the best dvd player to play divx movies.

I can get the Philips from local store, but would have to order mx-105 online.

I did try the Yamada Chili DVD 6200xs, but it was total rubbish wouldn't play mpeg2 or normal dvd's properly never mind divx.

I've read various posts all over the net regarding above 2 models, some are good for both machines, and some are bad.

I don't mind paying a little extra for a decent model, but prefably don't want to spend over £70.

also can you firmware update the dvp5100

any advice appreciated.

regards
walkerx

I have two of the Phillips players, and they work brilliantly. i have thrown plenty of different file types at it too.

You should upgrade the firmware though, which is availible on the Phillips homepage.

I "had" to give my old Philips DVD player to my mother so that I could get the new one I wanted. Its still going strong now and it gets a fair amount of use, it even puts up with the old shakey hands! :)
