thanks very interested to see whose recipes they were!!!
if the last few weeks are anything to go by ignore the brief go through to the final....
There's recipes from 20 chefs in the book, with each having 5 recipes, 17 of the 20 contributors have appeared on GBM in the past, including Will, Marcus , Glynn and Emily from the Sw heat.
I thought Richard had a good point with his dessert and he explained it wrong.
It would be nice to see the brief written down as most of us here and the judges seem to be expecting comedy and funny dishes.
The fair trade link is more appropriate than the Scottish main to me as although he said it wasn't funny but associated with Africa it was a tagine from North Africa which is not the usual place we see Comic Relief money go.

At least Richard was able to demonstrate that he'd thought about it, and had a concept which related to Comic Relief. Marcus seemed to take that into account with his scoring. The toothbrush was, by Will's own admission, an afterthought (following prompting by Marcus!) and was completely out of place. It wasn't even mildly amusing, it didn't relate to Comic Relief, and it had nothing to do with the dish as a whole. It was as embarrassing (and as amusing) as yesterday's puppet show!
The after-effect of laughing too much at the comedy toothbrush?
i'm still laughing at the toothbrush, i had just calmed the hilarity when i went into the bathroom and of course the hysteria started afresh...i shall never sleep tonight now....
This week has been by far the strongest IMO - Will apart - whatever people think of Daniel Clifford, there aren't many chefs who put as much effort into GBM as he does

I absolutely agree. After the first few minutes on Monday I was getting ready to dislike him, but I was very impressed. He really does put everything into it, and it clearly means a lot to him. I know it's a cliche, but Marcus was right when he pointed out after the fish course that Daniel was "taking it to another level" whereas Will was basically going through the motions.
A well deserved winner this week.
I do think that on a different week and with a different judge, Will would have probably gone through instead of Richard, as failing to meet the brief has never been penalised.
As far as I can remember, when Daniel Clifford first went on GBM he came across as arrogant and missed the brief completely. Nice to see someone learning from their mistakes, he's done a very good job. Loved the look of his dessert and fish courses.
I wish there was a way both Daniel and Richard could go through, as they have both put a lot of effort into their dishes and getting them to fit the brief.
This week has been absolutely brilliant on GBM. Richard and Daniel have been fantastic with their dishes meeting the brief and looking delicious too. Will's looked beautiful (what the eff was the toothbrush though?!?).
Marcus has been an incredible judge this week. He's been great to watch. And I don't say that just because I think he's a hairy silver beastly fox of deliciousness (his full title).
I'm maybe 99.9% sure Daniel will go through. I love seeing how much this means to him, to Richard too, they've clearly put so much time into the development of the dishes. The strongest week by far! Shame only one can go through!

I quite like Daniel, yes he's a bit arrogant, but in a nice way (if that makes any sense whatsoever )

Oh we were in hysterics at the toothbrush, not for the right reasons mind you
I don't like coffee, and so I don't like coffee desserts.
But how come they raise questions about how not everyone at the banquet will like coffee (or how bladders might make some people feel queasy) and yet never mention "so you're doing a meat course, not everyone at the banquet will eat meat" or "so you're using seafood/nuts/dairy, what about those who are alergic?".
Why are the opinions of the anti-coffee brigade held in such high esteme?
Comments
Richard :):)
Yes, and he seemed to enjoy not having to do battle with the Mountain.
I love coffee desserts too!
... and I hate banoffee!

2x Why did the chicken cross the road?
2x What came first the chicken or the egg?
3x Tongue in cheek

... plus a turd, a Titanic and a toothbrush!
This is the answer but what is the question?
They would never guess!

Dunno how that happened

2x Fez/Tommy Cooper puddings.
And more red noses than you can shake a stick at.
I'll stick my neck out and say just the one toothbrush, though.
