I loved this show. I gorged on the whole season over the past weekend plus Monday.
It inspired me to check out the original UK show, also available on Netflix. So far I prefer the US version, but I think it's more a matter of personal preference than anything objective. The 20+ year difference in both production value and subject matter, the more theatrical style of acting, more reserved characters, shorter seasons, and less familiar political system, etc. Just subjective preferences.
Another original series available from Netfix is Hemlock Grove.
I've heard it's not supposed to be very good though. It looks like a competitor to True Blood, maybe, but without the batshit craziness and campy, self-aware humor.
finished HOC the other week, felt it was really good, slight lul with eps 4-6 but then it got going again, love frank and look forward to how much further he can elevate himself.
I don't think I will be watching the next series to be honest, it's just too depressing for me. I tried Hemlock Grove didn't like it. I am going to watch Arrested Development though never seen it before and seeing as Netfix are bringing it back, it's supposed to be good.

Netflix has the first 3 seasons. I highly recommend watching them in order. The humor is highly self-referential and you probably won't get much out of it dropping in on season 4.

Oh thats what I meant, I always watch shows in order.
Has there been any word on when we will get the second series. Six episodes in and although I am really liking it cant see the point of hurtling through it if I will have a big wait for the next series
Well, some people on here said this would never get a ‘traditional’ DVD release, while others (myself included) said it would but probably not until season two premiers on Netflix… but we were both wrong.
Amazon have season one due for release on 10th June. I’m surprised it’s so soon after the Netflix premier, I’m sure some people will re-consider a new subscription to Netflix because of this programme now that they know it’ll be on DVD in a few months later anyway.
Just finished the entire series and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. Kevin Spacey as Underwood is superb as is his sidekick Stanhope. Great dark story line's, its a bit anti West Wing in that sense. Looking forward to the second series and bravo Netflix for stumping up the cash for the production:D
I enjoyed this series too, and I think it just shades the original for me. Maybe because it seems dated now. Anyway, one thing that I was a bit confused about was if it was Underwood's plan all along for Peter to fail, and so steer Matthews back to running for Governor, then why was he upset about losing the vote for that Bill? I got the impression that he changed his plan for Peter after that.
