Delighted for the Sky Blues fans, really is great news for them to be back home.

Even with it being Live on Sky now, I can see this being a huge crowd, maybe even capacity for Ricoh !

It'd have been a bugger for Gillingham fans even if it'd have stayed on the Saturday, especially those who bought train tickets (same goes for fans of any other teams who bought train tickets to Northampton for any away games before this occurred), however I wasn't shocked to see it picked for TV barely a couple of hours after the announcement, and it is good to see them back where they belong.

They haven't had a preview show on Friday for about 3 seasons but last season they did have a Thursday preview - that has been dropped. A show will air Thursdays for midweek FL goals if there's a full programme. So FL72 Preview is no more, just FL72 Review.

Wigan v Ipswich now Monday 22nd September.

Seems relatively short notice for this and unusual selection given most tv fixtures sorted weeks ago.

    Wigan v Ipswich - Monday September 22nd - 7.45pm

This is obviously the annual "is there a remotely attractive game between 2 teams that are both out of the Capital One Cup the weekend before a specific cup round that we can pick at relatively short notice" match (the circumstances obviously dictating it being a short notice pick). Happens pretty much every season.

Remember it happening to my team (Huddersfield) a couple of years ago in L1 away to Charlton. Our chairman decided that because alot of people had bought train tickets etc for the Saturday and it got moved to the Monday, that he'd put on free coach travel to the game due to it being such short notice and alot of people having already paid once in the expectation of going to the game.

Forgot it was league cup week, that explains the short notice decision. Very harsh on Ipswich fans though, no consideration for them who may have already sorted travel for the Saturday fixture once the TV games had been announced. Not sure it a great TV game with the stadium likely half full due to the night game and distance for away fans.

Even if it was a Saturday game I doubt too many Ipswich fans would've gone anyway, but yeah, it is harsh on those who booked trains, hotels etc after understandably thinking the game was set for the Saturday after pretty much every other game to the end of November had been picked.

It's a shame that fans aren't able to make long term plans (and take advantage of cheaper prices) but i'm afraid that's the modern game. Anyone who books trains and hotels more than 3 weeks in advance and complains when the tie moves is just naive.

But all the best train tickets are gone by then

And it looked like Sky had picked all their games until November

    Saturday October 18th - Bradford City v Sheffield United - 5.15pm

So obviously no PL evening game on Sky that day. Double header of FL action that day with Cardiff v Forest at 12.15pm

Sky kept 2 Sat 530 games free so that they could switch Liverpool or Man city back from Sunday if either club had been drawn to play a Tuesday game in CL
But the fixtures worked out OK
This explains the 2 late announcements from Sky for Oct 18 and Nov 1st

And Sky will wait and see if BT are showing a Sat 1245 game before they will announce the Sat 1215 Football League match to go head ho head
