The thread title says it all really. Any ideas as I'm pretty rubbish at thinking of ideas?!

I think that's going to be their gift for me.

    I hope.

    It's not is it?

    Are they going to Sydney?

Maybe tickets for a performance at the Opera House.

Where are they going? Could you arrange a nice dinner somewhere for them there? Somewhere that does proper Aussie food (including some kangaroo!)

Are they going on hols or moving? Some Australian dollars would be good, I got those for a mate's wedding last year (she was honeymooning in Oz).

    Thanks everyone!

They're flying into Melbourne before heading to Sydney at some point. The unfortunate thing is that nothing is concrete so can't really say that they'll be in Sydney for a performance on date X if that makes sense!

Why not book them in to do the Sydney Bridge walk/climb.
I know a couple who did it and they thought it was amazing.

Amazing and damn expensive for what it is. Depending when you go it costs up to £167 each x by 2 - Could put that towards a ticket to fly out :) Better to walk up the tower nearby for almost the same view. OH did it but this tight arse would not pay to walk up a bridge.

(When you book it online you have to state the time and date of climb)

If they are booking through a travel agent, why not get them some gift vouchers, and get the agent to list some excursions they can do.

Then they could book their excursion using the gift vouchers, when dates are fixed.

What about a jokey scary beastie 'survival' kit - you could get first aid stuff, various repellants (spiders, sharks, etc) and details of all the different types of things to watch out for (I know I was shocked how many we just don't hear about over here - they even have 'stinging' trees). You could maybe tie that in with a decent guide book as a more sensible part :)
