I must admit part of me wanted Sing Something Simple to survive as I used to joke about the likes of Oasis, Blur, Pulp the Spice Girls, VengaBoys getting the Cliff Adams treatment! Pete Tong could have been presenting 'Melodies for You' by then! :)
Dead ringers turned them into mafia-style gangsters, singing their threats in close harmony to the sound of the accordion. ;)

Despite liking lots of old music, Sing Something Simple is not really my thing. Even so, it is surprising that across 10 national radio stations (and all the created-for-the-internet content), the BBC has almost no time for music from the first half of the 20th century.

Lots of it is still within living memory, and some people like music that pre-dates them. Radio 3 thrives on it ;)

    Cheers,
    David.
