Alternative Who Do You Prefer?

Okay, so these 42 bands/ artists are among my very favourites- and since we have a pop one and a classics one, thought its only fair to those of us who are like a music performed by the same person/ people who wrote it, to present a Who Do You Prefer: Alternative/ Indie list.

If this takes off, I may go a little more obscure- thought I'd keep a lot of these acts relatively well known so more people can take part.

Results will close when I feel like it (I'll let you know when I'm free)

Here we are-

Arctic Monkeys v The Enemy
Radiohead v Muse
Blur v Oasis
Laura Marling v Emmy The Great
Dirty Pretty Things v Babyshambles
Roisin Murphy v Goldfrapp
Fleet Foxes v Magic Numbers
Friendly Fires v Bloc Party
Cat Power v PJ Harvey
Lykke Li v Ladyhawke
The Strokes v The Hives
Conor Oberst v The Villagers
Klaxons v Gossip
Rufus Wainwright v Martha Wainwright
Empire Of The Sun v Royksopp
Nouvelle Vague v Camera Obscura
The Drums v Best Coast
Vampire Weekend v Young Knives
The XX v Yeah Yeah Yeahs
White Lies v Simian Mobile Disco
Sonic Youth v Jesus And Mary Chain
Glasvegas v Arcade Fire

    Roisin Murphy v Goldfrapp
    Fleet Foxes v Magic Numbers

The Arctic Monkeys v The Enemy (I love The Enemy though).

Radiohead v Muse (It's like choosing between Cadbury's and Galaxy. Both are so unbelievably, incredibly f**k awesome).

Blur v Oasis (I like Blur, but, Oasis is a given, every time).

Laura Marling v Emmy The Great

Dirty Pretty Things v Babyshambles (What a painful decision to make. I feel like when Mundungus Fletcher betrayed the Order of the Phoenix).

    Roisin Murphy v Goldfrapp

    Fleet Foxes v Magic Numbers

    Friendly Fires v Bloc Party

    Cat Power v PJ Harvey

    Lykke Li v Ladyhawke

The Strokes v The Hives (Tough. I like The Hives. Bring back good memories).

    Conor Oberst v The Villagers

    Klaxons v Gossip

Rufus Wainwright v Martha Wainwright (Tough. i like them both).

Empire Of The Sun v Royksopp (I'd have pitted EOTS against MGMT. Funny though, I love MGMT, but find EOTS to be ripping them off a bit).

    Nouvelle Vague v Camera Obscura

    The Drums v Best Coast

    Vampire Weekend v Young Knives

The XX v Yeah Yeah Yeahs

White Lies v Simian Mobile Disco

Sonic Youth v Jesus And Mary Chain

Glasvegas V Arcade Fire (Think I'm seeing them in December, a friend said they would take me. Kind friend. Though, I've not heard all of their stuff, but I really don't like Glasvegas).

Good list there, OP. Finally, I can make some painful decisions. Rather than just go "right, whose the lesser of two evils/who is better looking/who has the first name of a friend.

    Thanks!

Can't believe I missed out MGMT- but realised I had missed out Razorlight, Band Of Horses, Foals and The Gaslight Anthem to late to include them. Don't worry, if this is succesfull there shall be a second list and MGMT will appear!

Royskopp, I expect, will be doomed!

Great list, about time there was tougher choices could have had The Cribs V The Courteeners in there too, that would be an impossible decision :D

I've seen Razorlight & Gaslight Anthem live, and seeing MGMT. Whatever you do, don't pit them against each other, I will cry, as they are all brilliant. :p

Don't! That will be near imbloodypossible! Though, Housewife will take Cribs in the lead for me. Even though Acrylic and Cavorting are absolute anthems.

Jesus, can't believe I forgot one of my favourite bands (The Cribs)

Round Two is gonna be even tougher for me.

If anyone has any more suggestions for bands/ artists please let me know.

I may put Razorlight against I Am Arrows, just for cruelty's sake.

And The Cribs will win out all of the time from me- The Cribs v Modest Mouse I am thinking as both have worked with Johnny Marr.

And for retro effect, it has to be The Smiths v The Cure?

Definitely. And, as much I like Modest Mouse, I'm a Crib forever on that one.

Ooh theres room for a lot more- Kasabian v Franz Ferdinand.

And I very nearly did We Are Scientists v Pulled Apart By Horses but swapped them for Cat Power/ PJ Harvey.

Love Regina Spektor so may do a battle of the sexes on Regina Spektor v Sondre Lerche.

Oh My, that would be too difficult to me- both have done amazing stuff as solo artists but based purely on one song, I have to go with Albert.

I want to work in Gallows, Jamie T, The Pigeon Detectives too! So many wonderful acts to chose from.

I don't for an instant expect this to be as popular as the Alexandra Burke v Leona Lewis battle of wills on the other thread but I'm enjoying this!
