The actors who cringe at the acting they've been nominated an award for is more entertaining.

I just hope poor 11 year old Alex Bain, (Curly Si), doesn't have the temerity to look even slightly disappointed at anything at all, otherwise he will be slated mercilessly on here for another 12 months for being 'an obnoxious brat in real life' etc. :kitty:^_^

ETA Thanks for the thread, dj. :)

I'll put my full reply in spoilers so not to ruin it for anyone :)
I am going to be watching tonight because I am a huge soap fan, and I am really pleased that David Neilson and Julie Hesmondhalgh were honoured with Best Actor and Actress, and that storyline - for me - was great, but it seemed to dominate a bit too much and there are some people I'd love to have seen won.

For me, the best episode of any soap this year was the aftermath of Lucy Beale's death and seeing everyone's reactions. It was EastEnders at it's very best. Hayley's death in Corrie was also brilliant, but EE should have triumphed here.

Also, Lindsey Coulson - she should have gotten Best Dramatic Performance. I am not detracting from David - he's the best actor in soap in my opinion, but she is the best actress and seeing as though he got an award, I wanted Lindsey to get it. I know the panel couldn't have necessarily predicted that David would win, but still - Lindsey was equally as deservant.

Glad Emmerdale got recognition for their Siege.

Not quite sure why Hollyoaks got Best Soap - they must've had a really great year but when I've watched it (albeit, on and off), it never seems to drag me in, whereas the main three always seem to be able to. To be honest, all soaps had an up and down year - EastEnders has been superb since Christmas, Corrie was great at the back end of last year moving into 2014 (and seems to be picking up now), and Emmerdale had an amazing summer/autumn. I might be wrong, but I find the excessive murder and death in Hollyoaks a bit much.

I enjoy the pantomime of it all. Rubbish actors, rubbish writers, rubbish storylines and they don't seem to feel even slightly embarrassed about receiving awards. A hilarious evening to look forward to.

Doesn't help that neither the writers or the actors have the ability to make me give even the slightest shit about any of them.
