BBC also has the rights to Dreamworks animated and live action films although some like Transformers were co-production with Paramount so ended up on Channel 4. Channel 5 is Sony although last year a lot of Sony films ended up on Channel 4 and BBC Two, Channel 4 I think has the Summit Entertainment films like Twilight and Channel 5 have shown Lionsgate films.
It'll be interesting to see who gets Angels and Demons this year as The Da Vinci Code rated very strongly for its premiere (3.7m in the overnights for Five) and every time it's repeated seems to do well. Even the showing on 5* on Friday, just a couple of weeks after it had aired on Channel 5, managed a very respectable and well above average 411k (2.3%).
Does anyone know how if this is the case regarding BBC and Disney movies, how did ITV show Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Aladdin over the Christmas period along with the UK TV premiere of Tangled on Christmas Day?

It isn't a great celebrity lineup but it isn't as bad as I'd feared based on the rumours and the fact it was always going to be a difficult sell to celebrities as is can be quite a dangerous sport. Putting Jo Brand on the panel definitely suggests they're going for laughs and I think it might do OK overall. I suspect it'll start poorly on Saturday but pick up a bit across the run.

Great for EE, a little bit disappointing for the comedies - a fair bit down on last week, particularly MBB. Suggests Lewis will make further in roads.

I don't think MBB has anything to worry about. 8m is still several million up on the last series, so great figures. Plus it has a track record if being one of the most watched shows on the Iplayer, and also when having recordings added, it's overall rating increases by several million.
Miranda is completely on fire at the moment, and she's definitely at her peak, between her book selling so well for Christmas and now her tv series.
Comedies getting 8-9m in prime time on BBC1 is rare in the modern era. These are the BBC's biggest comedy hits/ratings draws in a very long time.
I don't think Lewis will hurt anything next week, as I'd imagine it will draw a different audience than the one watching these two polarising comedies. If one show is to be recorded, Lewis might be that show, given the comedies are more of a must-see, talk-about-them-at-work-tomorrow thing.

the episode was pretty nondescript, which is why it's great to prove the naysayers wrong that there was anything wrong with EE.
People still like the show and tune because they have some sort of attachment to the characters. As poorly rated as the Gary Barlow concert was, it was an alternative that people could watch if they so desired
