Well, Pardew did say in the press conference he was desperate for Newcastle to stay up. His half-time team talk must have consisted of him telling the players to not bother in the second half as that was quite woeful.
the big worry is if we take this form in to next season. Without any major changes in the summer we will be relegation fodder for certain.
I don't see us winning either of our final two league matches. Maybe a draw against Stoke but I doubt we'll get anything at Southampton with the Final a week later. That would be 1 win in 21. If we start with that kind of form in the first 6-8 games next season then Parish will have that decision to make again.
I think the Amercian investors will put pressure on Parish too if this crap league form continued in to next season regardless of whether we won the cup or not.
Quiet a few of anti Pardew posts on Holmesdale Online at the moment . If we don't get at least a point next week against Stoke it will go to the last week of the season . Maximum Norwich can get is 40 with a much worse goal difference & Newcastle can't get more than 39 also a much worse goal difference . If we somehow scrape a win next week Sunderland can't catch us either 41 is their maximum .
Let's be brutally honest here - would Pardew's job be at serious risk if it wasn't for the Cup run? You'd have to say yes, surely? 1 win in 19 league matches is reason enough for any manager to face the sack.
I don't want to see that happen, but this is going to be a big summer for the owners and for Pardew - this squad needs an overhaul if we are to stand any chance of progressing next season.
BTW, I don't believe we will go down. The Oldham '93 scenario was a fluke and this time it would need to be Oldham x 2 for us to drop. Not impossible, but highly highly improbable.

another impotent display yesterday up front... the only way i can see us beating united in the final is if they have one of their off days and we score from a set piece... otherwise forget it...
the only way everyone at the club can make up for this totally abysmal league form in 2016 is by winning the damn cup... they owe us lot that for putting up with this shite week after week...
kaikai is the reason why i wouldn't be too despondent if we ended up selling bolasie this summer as potentially he is even better.... he certainly has more weaponary than either yala or zaha, he can shoot and score... would make sense to protect bolasie and zaha to a degree before the final and give kaikai a run out in the final 2 league games...
...i'd like to see boateng given a run out too but don't see that happening.
much better 2nd half, we looked so much better going forward and much more of a threat. Gayle was brilliant, worked so hard and deserved his 2 goals. And great that we could finish our home games with a win.
Gayle was fantastic today, he looks a different player when he has a big man to play off up front. Possible headache now for Pardew for the Final?
First half was lacklustre after a bright opening 10/15 minutes but second half was more like it. We played at a decent tempo and pressed them much better, and looked more of a goal threat because of it.
Finally we get past the 40-point barrier, it's been a long long time coming when you consider we had 31 points on New Years Day.
Next week at Southampton - play the second string or go full strength to keep some momentum going before heading to Wembley?

crap 2nd half. showed all our frailties again. I can't wait for the summer clear-out.

Still not quite safe yet really. watch Norwich beat Arsenal now! ;-)

Thisis the optimism that's needed. This year it's Leicester, next yearit'll be us hehe
And here's a load of added expenses too.
Nice. Can I start looking at flights to Europe in 2017 now?
Link.

No Zaha again for the Stoke match. Bolasie is feeling unwell and is a doubt, and Jedi has a knock.
...last home game of the season tomorrow, hopefully we can muster a win somehow, someway... not holding my breath though!
Hennessey; Ward, Dann, Delaney (c), Souare; Bolasie, Puncheon, Cabaye, McArthur, Gayle; Wickham.
Subs: Speroni, Kelly, Ledley, Mutch, Sako, Campbell, Adebayor.
it's a broken record isn't it? Once again we look rubbish in the final third, it's so inept and feeble.
2 - 1 !!
Oh ye of little faith. Still, there are 20 or so minutes left, so we could easily concede another 3 or 4 in that time.
