Yes, there WERE questions about DC playing Bond, but a lot of these were hyped up so that he looked good when the movie was released.

Of course I saw what was going on, the publicity machine for DC's Bond was in full swing, but it still doesn't dismiss the fact that Hollywood wouldn't listen to the fans.
So many die-hard Bond fans were against DC for so many reasons, he was blonde, he wasn't the type of actor normally associated with the role etc.....
My point is that if the Robbie/Trek stories are true then it doesn't matter what the Star Trek fans say to protest against it, Hollywood will always do what it wants anyway.
Lets be honest, Trekkies are almost as bad as Robbie fans, even if they disagree with the casting they will still go and see the film a dozen times and buy up all the merchandise and THEN say they thought that Robbie was inspired casting from the start even tho they had disagreed so harshly at first
