Painting Son's Bedroom.....

Calling all you aspiring painters and decorators out there - this ones for you!!!

My son follows his fave football team, Crystal Palace and wants his bedroom painted in the official colours. After a little bit of investigating, I have managed to obtain the actual official colours as used by the team:

http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af255/dinofrangos/CPFC%20Official%20Colours_zpsyact4hxq.jpg

As you can see, the blue, is pretty dark. He has quite a small room and it is relatively square in shape. My initial thoughts were to paint 2 walls red and 2 walls blue so the red walls would face each other and the blue walls would face each other, however, everyone in my family has said that this would make his room look rather small - as the colours are not very bright.

Another suggestion was to just have 1 wall as a feature wall, with the CPFC colours and, just paint the other 3 walls a matching colour of some kind, but I'm not really sure?!

Anybody have any further suggestions on what we could do, using the colours I have linked to?!

Thanks in advance.

Well the kit is downward stripes, that might actually work on walls.

I can't imagine how it could be done though. Masking tape?

...yea, I realize that, its just the fact that as the colours are really not that bright (red and blue), I'm worried that it will make his room feel really small (dark colours make rooms look small whilst lighter colours, make the room appear bigger!), but obviously, I won't know that until the colours are on the wall, by which time, it will be too late!!

I think trying to do stripes will also be too tricky - you'd have to paint on the red stripes, let them dry, mask over them, then paint the blue stripes, let them dry, and chances are, the stripes won't have dead straight lines (paint will often seep through/under masking tape)!!!

I'd go for one wall done in stripes like the kit, with the others in lighter colours to offset the gloom, although the gloom of following Palace at the minute must be pretty deep. Could he support Leeds instead? White kit see? ;)

How about painting the walls in a light colour, using something like this wall sticker (http://vinyls-direct.co.uk/crystalpalace-fc-wall-sticker) and then using the other colours on the furniture etc as accents. I couldn't see those colours working in a small room and a whole wall done in them. Far too dark for me liking.

Not something I would ever consider my son has an avengers room, next year he may want something else, I always leave walls a cream colour and then accentuate with curtains, lampshade, bed sheets, pictures etc. I would never colour his room as it would make it small and dark..

I agree with this, OP. They are very dreary, dark colours for walls in a small room. That wall sticker looks really good on the white wall, I think, or you could go for a soft grey. Gogfumble's idea of using the red and blue on the furniture and soft furnishings like cushions and duvet cover is a good one.

..awesome ideas there - never thought of that!

There are options to buy the sticker in different colours to so may go with that instead!

    Thanks peeps!

as well as the stencil or logo I would consider ordering the match attax cards for the entire team from Topps direct and mounting them and putting them in a frame to accessorise the room.
