'I Feel Like Buddy Holly' was the first single I ever bought. Not a massive fan but loved that song. Must dig it out and a record player to play it on!
There's a thread on this in Showbiz ,and probably one will appear in music too .Bit like the threads on Lynda Bellingham all over the show .I don't suppose the mods have time to put them together on this site , it's a really busy site .
I was a fan of his when he was Shane Fenton
I went to a few gigs when he played rock and roll with the Fentones
RIP.
I remember when he was Shane Fenton; what I did not know until a minute ago was that he was the second Shane Fenton the first one died very young and he took the name to keep the band going.
Perhaps also explains why he changed it again quite soon after.
tony blackburn needs disabusing of the notion that he had a bad boy image, he was viewed as a leather clad cliff richard and rather uncool in my youth at the height of his fame.

Yep. We just saw him as cabaret-Elvis with a better fitting catsuit.
I did my PGCE at the same time as one of his former backing group who, by the late 1980s, was training as a teacher. Last I heard he was a Deputy Head in Birmingham. He never spoke about him much but when he did, said nice things about Alvin. Musicians are rarely nice about other musicians so I always assumed that spoke volumes about the bloke.

Thank you for your kind thoughts and useful contribution.
Part of my youth gone again. RIP.

There should be a 'deaths forum'

No. How will the majority find out? As a rule this is my first place I look for a lot of news. Deaths need to be in GD.
That one and My Coo-Ca-Choo are indeed glam classics
RIP Alvin.
With Lyndsey de Paul, Lynda Bellingham and now Alvin Stardust all gone in just a few weeks, it makes you wonder
