No wonder we can't buy a ticket when people like this screw us over.

A British director of a World Cup hospitality firm has been arrested as part of an investigation into illegal ticket sales.

Ray Whelan, who works for Fifa's exclusive official hospitality partner Match, was detained in Rio de Janeiro, police in the city confirmed.

Saw a piece on this on the news this morning and it appears that the authorities have been tracking mainly hospitality tickets and are able to track them back to source.
Hopefully they will name names of those that passed the tickets onto him
I think it's quite pertinent that he has been staying at the same hotel as the top FIFA officials including Sepp

Is anyone surprised? Tickets given to players, officials and for hospitality in the game have been finding there way onto the market for years.

    He's done a runner

However, police in Rio said they went to Mr Whelan's room in the Copacabana Palace but he was no longer there and they were told he had left an hour earlier.

Mr Barucke said outside the hotel: "We have security camera images of him exiting the hotel through a service door."
