  RTL has acquired the rights for all qualifying matches of the German national football team from September 2014 until October 2017 (EURO 2016 and FIFA World Cup 2018). The deal covers 20 live matches and "extensive highlights of all other qualifiers".

  This will be the first time ever that competitive matches of the German team are not shown by public broadcasters ARD & ZDF (the only exception being a World Cup play-off match against Ukraine in 2001 that was covered by SAT.1).

  Me too. RTL had a couple of live Wold Cup matches in 2006 and 2010 but that was more or less their only football coverage since they'd lost the Champions League rights in 2003.

  Does anyone know if there is a problem with the above? My shoddy set up (dish on the floor connected to ancient Digibox) is reporting 'there is a problem with this channel' although the EPG data is there. No problems with other channels on the same frequency such as RTL Television. Normally if the dish needs a tweak I get 'no signal' or a broken picture
  
  That said I have not tuned to it for a while but would like to watch the first Audi cup game:)

  Sorry to hear about that problem. I hope you could fix it? Man City v Milan must have been a very entertaining game. And City gave Bayern quite a run for their money in yesterday's final. It's obvious that Pep and the players have a few problems in getting used to each other. I hope this will be sorted out until the Super Cup match against Chelsea.

  no, this will not be the norm.
  
  Putting the promotion/relegation play-offs aside, ARD only has two live matches from the Bundesliga each season: the season opener (always a home game of the reigning champion) and the first match after the winter break. The latter will be shown on Friday, 24th January, and it might or might not be Gladbach v Bayern (e.g. Hamburg v Schalke or Dortmund v Augsburg could be chosen instead).

  Tks again already signed up to BT Sport waiting for the card to arrive.
  
  The beauty with BT sport is that i don't have to be a sky subscriber as i use my sky box as a FTA receiver and BT in Ireland is part of the Setanta Sports Pack which includes Setanta Ireland , Premier Sports, BT Sport 1 and 2 and ESPN for €19.99 a month!

  Sounds like good value for money.
  
  And BT Sport / ESPN might have much more live Bundesliga than ESPN had before. There are four live games this weekend but I guess we'll have to wait and see if they keep it up when Serie A has started as well.

  I was only half paying attention at one point during the Greuther Furth Match last night, but I am sure that a banner appeared on screen regarding the Koln - Uerdingen match tonight and the commentator said that 3rd Div matches are going to be shown weekly on Sport 1 on Tuesdays. Can anyone confirm?
