Samsung LE40M86BD Audio Problems

We have just purchased the above LCD panel and first impressions are supurb picture, DVD playback with HDMI and Digital Audio fantastic and that's before we sort out our HD feeds!

But the audio feed from the Sky Digibox to the TV or to a Samsung Theatre DVD player is poor. The TV with internal freeview is acceptable but change to the sky digibox feed and it is proving difficult to live with (very tinny and with some distortion). We have tried supplimenting the scart connection with L & R phono's but no improvement.

Does anyone have any ideas which may point us in the right direction, before I get involved with Samsung or Curry's where we bought the TV?

Ok, your never going to get high quality sound from this TV due to the very small downfiring speakers, however you can get reasonable sound by making a few adjustments. In the Sound Menu turn Auto volume on, Turn SRS Off & select Custom Sound then go into the Equaliser & try raising the first 3 settings (after the balance control) to around halfway past the mid line & also the last one a similar amount. This should give a respectable sound improvement. For movies you need the Home Cinema Amplifier to give maximum impact. Connect your sky box via optical to your home cinema or if the home cinema only has Coaxial Digital input get an optical to coax converter.
