I was very surprised to discover recently that Sugababes' "Too Lost In You" is in fact a cover version:eek: It was originally released back in 1997 by French chanteuse Patricia Kaas.
Any other surprising covers out there (in your opinion)?

I was surprised to learn 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' by Cyndi Lauper was a cover. Robert Hazard had the original: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aLNwOxPsjg

That's reminded me of Kylie Minogue's 2 Hearts, which I only recently found was a Kish Mauve cover.

This thread reminds me of the time when a friend thought that Always on my Mind was a Pet Shop Boys original. For shame :)

I like both those songs! Shocked Don't Cha was a cover.

I didn't know until very recently that Madness' It Must Be Love was a cover of a Labi Siffre song, I was very surprised at that.

Several of Blondie's hits are covers:

    Denis
    Hanging On The Telephone
    The Tide is High
    I'm Gonna Love You Too

Though tbf they made those songs what they are.

Always thought that Robbie Williams version of She's the one was an original by him but it wasn't, it was actually World Party's song originally.

Alien Ant Farm did a cover of Smooth Criminal. I didn't realise it was a cover until MJ died.

Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes.

That was a sample rather than a cover. I too remember being surprised at this as I had never heard Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" when the Gym Class Heroes song first came out.

Similarly, I was listening to the radio the other day and was dismayed to hear some 80s act singing the chorus of Jordin Sparks' "S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)". The best part of the song...and Jordin nicked it from someone else.
Always thought that Robbie Williams version of She's the one was an original by him but it wasn't

    Really? Shame.
